My truck has 49k miles on it so I went to get an estimate to have the transmission serviced. They told me $1,800. $1,800! Anyone else pay this for a transmission service? I know the pan has to be replaced, but that’s ridiculous.

$1800 is ridiculous, but these transmissions are expensive to service. The pan, necessary due to built in filter, is $350, and fluid, I understand is $49 per quart.

You mean fluid and filter right? Why are you servicing a transmission already at 48k?

Is this a requirement with a 2500?🤔

Because I tow a travel trailer so it’s considered extreme service. I’m a retired trans tech and there is no fluid that is lifetime. That’s a marketing ploy. I service my transmissions at 30k regardless what the manufacturer says. I only waited this long because supposedly the ZF is lifetime fluid. I don’t believe that for a minute.

Makes sense. I figured towing must be the factor.
