That video is accurate for the Rebel. It gets the lowest real world mpg of any 2019 RAM 1500. The 22 mpg rating is a blanket EPA rating based on regular street RAMs likely with the 3.21 rear axle. There is no way any Rebel will get that mpg unless it was cruising downhill or riding on flatbed.
The main issues for this is that the Rebel has a few things going against it over any other RAM trim.
- 33" terrain tires . Even compared to large diameter street tires, these are heavy and thick tread pattern lowers mpg even compared to the 20" setup.
- 3.92 rear axle
- 2" higher ride height (1" from suspension and 1" from tires)
You can't beat physics. The one thing GM got right with the new Silverado is that they got a special EPA addendum on the Trail Boss trim, which sports big tires and higher axle ratio like the Rebel. They downgraded the mpg to a more realistic number.
