I have had a new 2019 Ram 1500 for about 3 months and it's been non stop issues with the big screen. Also had tons of wind noise from the sunroof. I took it in and they worked on the sunroof (it helped a little but still lots of wind noise) but I had a list of problems with the new big screen but all they could do was take a note of it. No attempt to fix. But today is the last straw the volume on the unit increases by itself. You can manually turn it down but it will go back up until max. If you mute it it will mute for 1 second and then keep increasing the volume. The only way to stop it is turn it off. Anyone have a clue how to stop this? I'm probably going to try to lemon law this piece of crap truck. It's to bad because if it worked like it suppose to it would be nice.

Find a dealer willing to warranty replace the unit. Another possibility is faulty wiring in the volume buttons on the steering wheel. Shouldn't be hard to isolate the issue.

The last time I took it in they told me there where lots of bugs in the new screen and updates would be sent. I'll try again

First I've heard of either of these problems. Could you send a video of the screen/volume issue? and do you by chance know your build date?

I can't attach a .mov

You haven another way?

I've linked a dropbox video before. I somewhat remember this happening once or twice in my grand Cherokee but it never persisted

I don't have a drop box. Any way to get one just for this?

Hate to hear about those issues, hang in there. My truck is not here yet, so take this for what it’s worth. I have a long time relationship with the owner of Charlotte’s top audio dealer, and he confirmed this is the future of all upper end autos. He is not a hugh HK fan, but the folks with Uconnect are as solid as any other out there and they will get the bugs out. There is a lot on the line for them as well with this 12 inch.

Have you tried disconnecting the positive battery terminal cable for like 10-15 mins?

It's heartbreaking to here all the 12" issues. But remember, it's 1's and 0's... software, at least the bones and heart of the truck are solid... rock solid and that's something to build on. It's crappy hearing everyone without problems tell you to hang in there when your new pride and joy is not up to par. Just know that everyone here has, at one point or another, been in your shoes and you'll have a good selection of advice and shoulders to lean/cry on as you get through this.

Or Lemon law... @alacombe can assist you down that rabbit hole.

Just to be clear, software changes can fix defective software and can on occasion cover up some hardware issues, but let's hope there are no significant hardware flaws because to fix them, parts need to be replaced. Either way, I believe FCA will stand behind their product.

FYI....I have a very early build '14 Grand Cherokee with the then all new 8.4 Uconnect. It was buggy at first. I received several updates the first year that fixed all the bugs. After that, it has been solid. It got maybe 3 more updates in the last 4 years. FCA has more expertise now than they did then. If your issue is software, it will be fixed. If it's hardware, a watranty replacement should be in order.

On the 8.4, holding down 2 of the hardware buttons below the screen for 10 seconds would restart it.

I have the 8.4 and had somewhat of a similar issue. My volume would go right to max volume with either the radio or the navi on. This happened during my entire trip SC back to NJ so I could not use the radio or the navi. The dealer could not replicate it because, of course, the truck went back to normal before I could get it in to the dealer. It has not happened again but just yesterday, only the back speakers worked when I used the Navi. I shut the truck off and walked away from it. When I started it again it was back to normal. I am going to videotape it then next time it happens.

It’s never good to have sissies with a new truck. I was having some and then the updates came and resolved several of the issues. There are some quirks that remain but I know they are working towards fixing them.

Manufactures know that the infotainment system can cause them to get into a bad news cycle as ford learned with the MyFord Touch system.

The problems you are having do not sound the same as what others are having so it leads me to believe the unit is bad.

For the volume to increase on its own there are three parts that could be the issue. Steering wheel buttons, amp, and the front of panel. On the high end audio systems the volume is controlled in the amp.

I hope they get it resolved. Did you get the update?

If you are a person that flies off the handle with every problem that arises on a vehicle DO NOT purchase a first year anything. I don't care if it's a Ram, F150, Mustang, Corvette, Camaro or whatever.... there will be issues that come up that weren't anticipated. They can be supplier, design/engineering and/or assembly problems.
I went into this with my eyes wide open fully aware that I might be getting to know my dealership personnel quite well. And I frequent a number of forums knowing there will be plenty of complaining from the minority that do have problems. Forums themselves can make people paranoid. I'm not losing sleep.
