This tailgate light was on the 2022 Limited at the Chicago Auto Show. Located in the tailgate latch opening aimed down. My 2020 didn't have it. Hope it comes on mine. Anyone have any insight on this? 2021-07-18 14.58.14.jpg

Interesting. I guess we’ll find out when they start rolling in.
The first of us to receive them will have to do a comprehensive check for new features and differences.

I wonder if that improves the backup camera nighttime performance. I installed the Vleds license plate frame, which is a huge improvement, but Rams really need better backup visibility from the factory. It’s be nice if this provides that.

I'm sure hoping so. It seemed really bright, but hard to tell in that venue. (Spotlights everywhere) I sure hope it's either standard or part of the Towing or Preferred Equipment groups.

Based on we’re it’s at, I’m assuming it’s going to be for lighting a hitch. The 2015+ f150s had one in a similar spot. Came in handy at lot when hooking up to a trailer at night.

I agree, it's for visibility of the hitch better. Combined with the LED reverse lamps it should be quite bright.

I like these lights in the tow mirrors that you can turn on in reverse on the 21s:

I use the mirrors quite a bit when reversing and these lights help side visibility a good amount. The picture above was taken in an area with no street lights and was pretty dark. Still leaves a dark spot in the middle obviously, so not as helpful if you are mostly using the back up camera to back up, still definitely helps a little there too though.

I almost forgot the new tow mirrors I'm getting will have these too. If the tailgate light comes into fruition backup lighting will be SLICK!

Most definitely! These trucks look great lit up at night, sounds like yours is going to be a beaut! Will look forward to seeing it.

I'll have to pinch myself when it arrives for sure. I've never custom ordered a vehicle before. I almost did last year with Longhorn 10th Anniversary, but was turned off by the fact I couldn't get Black/Saddle interior with that package. Bought a Limited of the lot that had 95% of what I wanted and fell in love with that trim level. When I saw there was going to be a 10th Anniversary Limited I was excited and when I confirmed it was going to be at the Chicago Auto Show I made the road trip to go see it in person. Within 30 seconds I knew it was my next RAM. I had mine ordered within the week. I'll definitely post pics of Groot 3.0 when he shows up!
