So I had the HPFP replaced last year under the recall.

Last week I’m driving the truck just breaks down and shuts off.
Get it towed to the dealer and they are saying the entire fuel system needs to be replaced as there is metal fragments everywhere.
I asked if it could have been cause by the HPFP which was replaced under the recall and they said it’s possible.
My warranty is only covering about $3500 and I’ll be out of pocket almost $3000.
Is there anything I can do to get the warranty to cover the full system and could I prove it is the High pressure fuel pump that cause the catastrophic damage?

wow HPFP went bad again? I got mine recalled in september of 2024. I use a lot of Fuel additives and oil additives in my truck. Just cleaned the EGR tube.

Common sense says that should be covered under consequential damages, because the HPFP failing is what took out the rest of the fuel system. That pump should have a warranty. I think Rams warranty on that was 2 years. Unless of course the pump failed due to ingesting water or something.

2021 EcoDiesel how many miles do you have on your truck? and did you check your EGR tube/Map sensor?

Well, if you tell them there is an issue with warranty and want to see/record the HPFP being pulled, and then have it examined, that should show what failed. (Hard to think anything could've caused it.)

For that money, consider a lawyer. Blanket the dealer with paper so that you are assured that your HPFP doesn't disappear. ("Oh, sorry. We sent it in." That sort of thing.)

Why is warranty denying half of it???

The modified HPFP can still grenade. Instead of throwing metal shards directly into the engine, they go into the fuel tank. The hope is that your fuel filter then catches them before they get to the engine.

Have you been changing your fuel filter? (Initially every 20,000 miles, after recall they recommend (demand?) 10,000 miles. (As I remember it.)) Have you been using OEM filter?
