I’m having some misfire issues. The mechanic had it for 10 days and said he just about used every fancy tool/testing equipment he’s got in the shop and came to the conclusion that my computer is failing to send the right signals to the injectors. So I need a new ECM which are discontinued! I’m looking on eBay but every one I find dosent exactly match my part number. The number on the pcm in the truck now is P68378746AI. I know the two letters at the end dosent matter but dose the rest? Do I have to find and exact match? When I look it up on Mopar with my VIN# it’s a different part number than what I have. Any help would be appreciated!!

The part number P68378746AI corresponds to a Powertrain Control Module (PCM), also known as an Engine Control Module (ECM) or Engine Control Unit (ECU), for a 2019 Ram 1500 with a 5.7L V8 engine. This specific part number may be interchangeable with other versions (e.g., ending in different letters like AH or AJ) as long as the main numerical sequence matches and it is correctly programmed to your vehicle's VIN
For a replacement, you must use a PCM that is compatible with the 2019 model year and 5.7L engine. Other compatible/interchangeable OEM part numbers for this model year include:
  • P68378745AK (and other letter variations like AN, AJ, etc.)
  • P68402806
The crucial factor for compatibility is that the replacement unit belongs to the same hardware code series (often indicated by the main numerical sequence) and is for the correct model year and engine size.

Important Considerations for Replacement
  • Year, Make, Model, and Engine: Compatibility is strictly tied to these specifications. A PCM from a different year or engine size is unlikely to work correctly, even with reprogramming.
  • VIN Programming: Replacement PCMs must be programmed to match your vehicle's specific 17-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). Reputable suppliers like Flagship One or Flashmasters will program the unit for you before shipping, making it a "plug-and-play" installation.
  • Security (SKIM): Most modern PCMs have a security system (Sentry Key Immobilizer Module - SKIM). Proper VIN programming typically handles this, but some systems might require a quick additional key reprogramming step at a dealership or qualified locksmith.
  • Aftermarket Options: If you are seeking performance tuning, companies like DiabloSport offer "modified" or "unlocked" PCMs that allow you to load custom tunes, but these require a compatible tuning device (e.g., an inTune i3 or Trinity T2)
