my truck got hit

What does everyone have for insurance? I'm always down for a better insurance company.

I'm with Progressive and currently have Emerald+ discounts wtih 3 vehicles, 1 ATV, and 2 houses.
we have been with state farm for 35 years. we have 3 vehicles, a bass boat, personal items, and homeowners' insurance with them.

IMO the problem with discount insurance like progressive is when it comes time to payout.

Have made numerous claims with Progressive and never had an issue with payout, costs, etc.

My homeowners with another carrier has gotten stupid expensive and I need to shop it. Seems I have a "legacy" policy with "too much" coverage (no pro-rated deductibles, etc.) that's costing me double.

Here’s my issues with progressive.
Small accident forgiveness, $500.
You can’t scratch the paint for that much.
I was Diamond, had about a $2500 claim for a bumper damaged by a mid sized trailer that hopped off my hitch, pictures elsehere.
Bought my truck in August of 2023. New.
Accident happened in January of 2024. Less than one year old, but NEXT Calendar year.. they wouldn’t cover OEM replacement parts because of next model year.
I paid a couple hundred extra out of pocket of OEM.

Then, despite being diamond, raised my rates over 30%.
4 vehicles, home, 1 Harley.
I asked how this didn’t fall under large accident forgiveness… they said since it was your own fault, not somebody else’s, it doesn’t qualify.

Went to Citizens. Cheaper by about 20%, before the rate hike…
I had zero issues with Progressive paying out the funds, the timing their speed of service. Zero issues there. Not paying for OEM less than one calendar year and raising my rates like they did…that’s all I needed to shop around.

Since my GF is an agent I know a few things. Citizens doesn't cover your interests. They cover the home for the bank's interest. Unless you have contents on your policy, you won't get anything for the items in your home. We are in Louisiana and the insurance companies have jumped 30% like you say. Policies are so expensive now that people are getting citizens just to afford it. Citizens cannot turn anyone down.

Appreciate it.
I have platinum plus for home, which covers personal belongings as well as opted for scheduled coverage, which I have listed items of value such as my firearms, collections…etc.

Good tip Ron, it’s not always about the price… and diligence is important!

My truck got hit while parked. Looks like a trailer dragged across the front as I was backed in a spot and on the corner spot. Waiting for estimate to determine if it goes the insurance or not. ($500 deductible ). I asked my insurance already and they said it COULD go up at renewal even though no one driving.

Any update on how much the repair quote ended up being?

Just curious what they’re charging these days for something like that.🤔

That's why I changed from Allstate to USAA many years ago. I had a shopping cart blow across a parking lot and slam into the side of a new car. It clearly fit within my policy definition of comprehensive damage and I had no deductible for comprehensive. Allstate argued that because the shopping cart collided with my car it would fall under collision and they charged me a deductible and changed my rates. I think their logic was borderline criminal but I just changed to USAA.
I did the same thing

question parts I marked, want to be sure they are correct or I ll be waiting another 2 weeks. It s just a primed bumper on the BTS? Side rt filler panel W/O flares, does that mean the part come w/o or the truck come w/o? The BTS has those painted flare type moldings. It wasn't t damaged. Thanks.

If you have the flare moldings you need the filler with flares. It doesn't come with flares. It comes with the holes in them for your flares to bolt to. Without flares mean no holes

so they are ordering the wrong filler.

It appears so, I imagine the holes can be drilled. See what your truck has to be sure. I researched it because mine is scuffed pretty bad and I was considering replacing it.

Update/. started out with a $3610 est. The auto body is one recommended or trusted repair shop by insurance company. The supplemental bill was $5600 extra..... someone s getting hosed I think, I don t know but I M surprised. Like $9700 with my 500.

Nice looking truck. what headlights are those? Did you tint them?

Looks like parts, like those bottom lights in the bumper (that were never hit) are like $1200 each side. Not sure why they didn t just move the old ones over. I don t know? Nothing mechanical or frame related.
