MPG skyrocketed or just a bad fill up.

What's a gas attendant?
No kidding😆

Last time those were around here was back in the 70’s. “Fill er’ up with leaded check the oil and wash the windows while your at it.”

Ah the good ole’ days.

When I was a little kid I'd laugh every time when my dad would tell the attendant to fill er up with ethyl. I used to wonder who she was.

And a 26 gallon tank
correct 26 gallon tank
Not sure what you are trying to get at. I've ran my tank for 15 miles after DTE read zero and still only got 24 gallon in the tank.
The gas tank was filled with 23.42 gallons of gas.
MPG was hand calculated 14.94 for that tank of gasoline
DTE read 26 miles

IF I drove another 26 miles (at 14.94 mpg as per the previous 349.9 miles) to Zero DTE I would have used another 1.74 gallons of gas. 23.42 + 1.74 = 25.16 gallons into the tank.

In this case (349.9 miles 14.94 MPG, 23.42 gal fill up and 26 DTE) going to ZERO DTE (another 26 miles at 14.94 mpg) I would use an additional 1.74 gallons of gas. If the tank was filled at Zero DTE it would take 25.16 gallons (23.42 + 1.74).

I rarely run my tank low and do not for the most part record my DTE so I do not have another example handy.

For starters, I would have slapped the **** out of the attendant for "topping off" my tank. As others have said, you obviously do not have a 23 gallon tank, either that, or you got screwed by a gas pump that isn't accurate.

As for why your DTE hasn't dropped, if the attendant "topped off" the tank, they over filled it. Your DTE mileage won't go down until the fuel level sensor sensor starts to drop, which will take longer since the tank was over filled.
You are correct, after checking VIN# specs. my tank is 26 gal. Thank you
