Moving Retrax Pro bed cover from 4th Gen Ram to 5th Gen Ram

Hey everyone, my wife recently surprised me with a new 2019 Ram 1500 Limited in Diamond Black. It has the Ramboxes and is absolutely amazing. I had/have a 2018 Ram Rebel 1500 with Ramboxes. I bought a Retrax Pro MX bed cover for the 2018 ram when I first leased the truck and I absolutely fell in love with it. I thought it would fit on the new 2019 Ram Limited, so I pulled it off and tried. It does fit, with a slight modification with 2 thick washers. There are 3 mounts on each side that go into the tracks for the cargo management system. The mount closest to the tailgate needs to have a washer added on the top to raise the mounting point by about 1/4" because the tailgate protector is about 1/8" taller than the 4th gen ram. This does not in any way affect the operation of the Retrax Pro. Below are some detailed pictures. I hope this helps people save some cash and not have to rebuy a new bed cover.

Good info! To add to it, I put a 4th Gen Bak-Flip cover on my 5th gen with no issues.

Does your truck have Ramboxes too? It appears to me that the trucks with ramboxes would be easier to migrate bed covers since the box is perfectly square and utilizes. the exact same rails.

No, I have the standard 5’7 bed without Rambox.
