Mopar Tonneau

Anyone have a Mopar tonneau with this style latch ? Looked at a used one today. Real clean but the two rear latches seemed to have some play. I could see they cant be adjusted to make them tighter to the bed rails but is there any other solution for that ? My last one was threaded so you could tighten or loosen it as needed.

I have that type of latch on my tonneau cover. You have a couple of options to tighten it up. 1. Cut a piece of thick walled heater hose, split it lengthwise and placed it on the end of the arm on the yellow pad. That will tighten up the clamp.

2. Attach a spacer using 3M vhb tape under the bed rail. You can adjust the tension by adjusting the spacer thickness.

There may be other ways. The latches themselves are not adjustable.


I use option 1 with very good results.

The last tonneau I had was an Advantage Torza. Got it from Summit. I had it on my 2011 GMC and put it on the 2013 Silverado that I just sold. Great top and a fantastic latch setup. Sadly the company got bought out and no longer make them.

Our new truck came with one of those. My solution was to replace the whole thing with a BakFlip F1 hard cover. We got tired of listening to that soft cover flapping in the wind.

Not sure of the brand but the guy selling the tri fold put a hard cover on his. Funny, I never had any issues with the old Torza cover. Is it just the Mopar covers that are cheesy ?

I've had several of the hard covers, but never a soft one before. So I don't know how to compare. That said, the factory soft cover that came on our new Limited was indeed cheesy. Very little protection from water. No protection from theft. Flaps in the wind and cause noise when going down the road, especially with the back window open.
