Mopar coverage - prices worth it? (Already did Assurant when I bought the truck)

2023 RAM 1500 Lone Star, like I mentioned, got the 3rd party Assurant stuff when I purchased (March 2025), not knowing any better.

I get probably three emails a week from Mopar pitching their stuff and finally inquired about pricing.

“Got it, I have the 10yr / 100k mile $200 deductible extended care premium Ram Money Back plan for $3,561.73 (take $405 off if paid in full) or $350 down and $107.06 for thirty months.

I also have the 10yr / 100k mile $500 deductible for $3,178.23 (take $360 off if paid in full) or $310 down and $95.61 for thirty months. The 10yr / 125k mile $500 deductible is $3,736.30 (take $400 off if paid in full) or $370 down and $112.21 for thirty months.”

Thoughts? Never purchased either a third party warranty or an extended for a vehicle, but with my plans to try and maintain and drive this sucker into the ground (only my second vehicle ever), I opted for it.

if you can get a refund on that 3rd party i would get my money back sometimes the refund will just be applied to the principal of the loan. and i would get the mopar warrantee

Never used Assurant.
Had Chrysler MaxCare on my 2015 Limited Ram and it more than paid for itself over the 8 years, 140K plus miles I put on before trading it in.
Have it on my 2023, but unfortunately, max when I bought it was 8/125K.

I plan on trading in once I’m at the mileage or years.

Here’s what you need to think about.. because I’ve been there.
Yes, you are covered in the event of a minor or major issue and the premium covers just about everything.
Not, repeat, NOT bumper to bumper, but close…

Parts, shortages, available mechanics.. all those come into play should something fail.
Air ride (4 corner air suspension) on my 2015 failed me a few times. Last time, it was in the shop for 6 weeks waiting on parts (early 2023). Any perfect, run forever vehicles out there? No… of course now. Just consider all the options is all.

With all the tech, it’s worth it to me. That also being said, my 2015 was a solid truck, but the tech on the 2023 is WAY, Way better.

Finally got off the phone - doesn't change my payment, no refund to me, just changes the payoff date. I guess they send it directly to the bank or something.

Bummer.

Shop online for Mopar warranty- Ziegler, jeepwarranties.com are 2 with good pricing

Heater core sucks in the 2020 Bighorn. It's a lot of money to replace. MOPAR extended from Ziegler is as good as it gets and piece of mind knowing you are covered for A LOT of components.

Mopar extended from Ziegler is better than Mopar Direct?

Ford Ziegler took me to ChryslerFactoryPlans.com - 8 year (max), 100k mile Extended Care Premium is quoted at $3,645. Via email (from Mopar Direct - is it the same plan?), I'm being quoted $4,500.

Are these identical plans? Just trying to figure out why one is so much cheaper than the other.

And are there any JeepWarranties coupon codes? They have the best price for 8 year/125k mile. Beats Ziegler by about $600.

Mopar plan is better because it always uses OEM parts. 3rd party likes to use reconditioned/remanufactured parts.

But is the Mopar Direct (email from Nichole), Jeep Warranties, and Ziegler all the same plan? Directly from Mopar. I know my Assurant plan (canceling) is 3rd party.

Yes.
Consumers benefit…by buying the same warranty you can at a dealership. Since it’s a factory warranty, any authorized dealer can sell it to you, usually online via a very small markup compared to what the brick and mortar dealer you bought from is willing to sell you.

When I presented my local dealer with my offer to pay for the Max Care in 2023 (8yr, 125K), they barely scoffed…and just said no.
When I bought my 2015 I told them the price I could buy it for online… they matched it, and of course I heard… “they’re not supposed to be able to do that”… i.e., they don’t like competing with online sales of the Max Care.

IMO…there is no better factory warranty out there that covers your car/truck.
We can all discuss “worth it” or not.
As I’ve said numerous times.. I’d rather have it and not use it…then need it and not have it.
For my 2015, it more than paid for itself 3 to 4x over.

Not debating its worthiness. I just wanted to make sure there all the same. For example, there’s two Granger ones - one is Mopar official and one isn’t. I want to be certain I’m comparing apples to apples so it’s just about cost and not accidentally pursuing one that’s not actually Mopar legit.

Gotcha..
You want Mopar Official. Lots of sites offering them. You’ve hit the most common :)

I think I paid $2,600 for my 7yr/100k $250 deductible Mopar warranty on my 2019. It paid for itself two times over already.

I just had my evaporator replaced which I was told would have been a $2500-$3000 repair.

If you can, get your money back on the Assurant and go Mopar. That's my $0.02

Looks like Jeep Factory Warranty has both the best price AND the lowest monthly (longest financing term) for 8 years, 100k miles. $376 down, $112/month for 30 months.

Does it matter that I'm getting it with 31454 miles on it? I haven't even put on 7k since I bought the truck (March 2025) - just not sure how the pricing works.

At the end of the day, I'm happy to pay $112/month if it means it saves me over the next six years or 70k miles.
