A update, I finally reinstalled my Mopar bug shield. Great recommendations from members here. I got the Lamin X & new bumpers off Amazon. I super glued the bumpers to the back of the shield, not to the truck. I cut squares of Lamin X & put them on the hood. Looks great. Have plenty of Lamin X left, I may peel the squares off the hood & cut quarter size circles instead of the squares. The Lamin X is alot sturdier than the 3M tape. Thanks all.

Well, all seemed good until I looked a little closer, one of the end clips has pulled loose from the hood. Seems the Lamin X has pulled loose from the hood & the clip comes off with it. I tried to reapply it, did it again. I even loosened up all of the screws thinking there was too much tension on the end, causing it to move. Did it again. I was even thinking because I just tossed it on a shelf & it may have sat in the wrong position for too long & now it's not shaped right? Who knows? Anyway, I'm thinking about taking one of the clips that fasten to the hood & moving it to the end, locking it in so it can't move. Should work, looks like the holes should line up. Just wondering why they don't make the end clips like the others and is there a reason besides saving money to manufacture?

Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before but I noticed that you have the night edition as well. The dealer told me that the Mopar hood protector did not fit the night edition hood and I told him that well it was on my last night edition but couldn’t remember what my brother did when he installed it - turns out he just used painters tape instead of adding the fasteners. I saw a post on here where it was suggested to drill the outer holes about an inch towards the outside edge for proper install. Not sure if this is what you were running into here but could possibly be the issue. I will attach some photos for reference. I’ve put about 35k miles on this hood piece with no issues so far.

Not quite sure I‘m following you 100%. I may try swapping out an inside clip for an outside clip so there’s no way it can move. If that doesn’t work I‘ll get with you to try what you’re saying.

I can’t use the pre-drilled holes in the shield bc it lines up with the natural bend of the hood there on the outside - only applies to night edition hoods. Had to drill secondary holes about 1” over in each direction towards the outside of the shield (where the fastener is in the photo) for it to attach properly.

So the hole you see in the photo is the one from the factory. Mike & I drilled a bit to the left where the fastener is for it to clear the bend in the hood that you can a little below/behind that.

I gotcha. I’m gonna try to swap out a clip that will fasten with a screw.

I know it sounds crazy, I was actually thinking about losing the shield & having a 4 inch strip of spray on bed liner sprayed on in place of the bug shield. I think it would look good. Just thinking outside the box.

Well, swapped out a clip with an anchor put it on the outside & put the one without an anchor on the inside, so far so good.
