I have a brand new 2020 Ram 1500 with 200 miles on it. Today, I had my dealership add the Mopar 2” lift with Fox shocks and 35x12.5x20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers wrapped in a Fuel wheel package. The new stance is perfect and exactly the look I’ve been looking for. The ride is totally smooth and like stock up to around 60/65 mph. On the highway, at speed, the steering feels flighty, little loose. Like I want to hold steering wheel with both hands (I know like I’m supposed to). It doesn’t feel like stock on the highway. Alignment was completed by dealer.

Is this normal with the 2” lift and larger tires/wheels?

EDIT - 2nd alignment fixed the issue. Drives like stock at all speeds.

Matt

I’ve had my 2” lift for over a year but I don’t run 35” tires. Not that I condone this but I’ve traveled up to 85 mph and have not had that feeling. I run Load range E tires but in a Rebel fitment. I’ve also had several sets of tires / wheels on and none have felt the way you’ve described. Hopefully the 35” people will chime in to help. :)

Hmmmm no that does not seem normal, especially at highway speeds. You would be expected to feel a little more road bounce and cornering ability at any speed, but not loose steering. If you’re feeling loose around corners and turns that would be expected compared to stock ride.

i am installing the Mopar lift myself on my own vehicle. I have read almost every post on the topic at least twice. I can say with some degree of certainty that what you are experiencing is NOT normal. I would confirm everything was installed correctly. I would say you’re feeling has a lot more to do with the tire/wheel package than it does the lift.

Could be a rogue tire. Don’t want to speculate too much, but just talked to a buddy the other day who was experiencing lots of pull/play and took it in and sure enough it was a tire!

Thanks all. I’ll get it checked out tomorrow if I can get in.

The feeling you're experiencing is subjective. It could be a few things though. I have the mopar lift v2+ with 34". Hit about 95mph last week and was still stable.
  1. First check to make sure everything from the install is TQ'd down. Including wheel lugs.
  2. Could be from the extra sidewall height (but should not feel "dangerous").
  3. The alignment is not correct. Did you get a copy of your alignment after? Sounds like a "toe" setting issue and you may have too much "toe" out. Which can make it feel darty.

What PSI are you running? Many people make the mistake of running the max tire or the stock PSI at first.

I have 33" tires and the 2" dealer installed lift. Done just last week and truck has about 700 miles on it. No problems at all and feels as good as the stock to me in every aspect.

Tire pressure is where I'd start. After that, alignment. If that doesn't help, rotate the tires and see if it goes away. Could be a bad tire, although unlikely.

Just got back from the dealer. They checked everything and did another alignment. Everything is perfect now and rides just like stock. Really like the stance and feel with the lift and Fox shocks.

Thanks all!

I’ll post some pictures when it’s clean again. Been snowing and raining all day here.

Ah perfect, glad it wasn’t anything stressful and now you can enjoy what you’ve paid for.

Any rubbing with the 35s? Exact setup and tire size I want. Truck looks badass brother!

Thanks man. No rubbing at all. Dealer installed everything so I’m not sure if they did any trimming or not.

Nice that’s the hard part when having dealerships do work, not knowing what all extra they needed to do. My dealership when they did mine swore they tried to do 35x12.5 and it wouldn’t work. Obviously it does as there are several folks who are running that set up.

Very Nice. What color are those rims? One picture they look black, another picture appears to be gun metal gray?

They are matte black with a gray tint on them. The gray really comes out in the sun.
