Maximum Steel or Patriot Blue?

Both are heavily affected by lighting conditions. The first couple of days I had my max steel I was heavily regretting the color choice. It was cloudy or the truck was in the garage under fluorescent lights. In these conditions the truck is straight grey. Just lighter than granite grey.

When the sun came out and she got a bath, I then remembered why I chose max steel. The sunlight deepens and "wettens"? the overall appearance. On the panels that are slightly off angle from direct sunlight, the color is nearly black. On direct sunlight is when the sexy deep blue comes out.

The Patriot blue to me, goes more black when it's cloudy vs grey like max steel does. When the sun is on it though, i feel patriot goes to a very royal blue that (to me) borders on more a sporty blue vs a lux blue.

These are of the same truck:

max steel before level.JPGi think my pictures state my color choice pretty clearly but i'll say it anyway : ) My Max Steel Ram was my absolute favorite colored truck of all time, and we've had "the rainbow of Rams"...

It won't happen often, but the 5% of the time the sun directly hit my Max Steel, it looked liked Liquid Molten Steel Blue Lava! With the Patriot Blue and the Granite Crystal, their was rarely a color change, just the same shade 100% of the time...

And i don't think ANY Color, not even Black, (which i have now : ) is more beautful after a wash & wax - it actually "glistens" lol

Yeah I'm up in the air as to which one I like better. I had a '12 1500 in mineral gray which was a very boring color. I also had a Challenger in blue streak pearl, that was way too blue. I'm looking at two '19 Laramie's, both with the sport pkg. w/ the 22's. One is Patriot Blue, the other Max Steel. I just don't want a truck that's too dark in color as it'll be a daily in typical PNW crappy weather and don't want to polish the truck up every weekend.

These were my two options as well when I was ordering. I went with Max Steel and think I would have been happy with either one. My father's opinion when I was debating was that the Patriot Blue looked a bit more sporty and maybe a "younger guy's truck" while the Max Steel looked more stylish and sophisticated. Take that for what you will, I think he was just calling me old. ;)

Honestly, they are both great colors. I get compliments on the MS color frequently and I really enjoy it in the sun seeing the colors reflect.

Patriot Blue seems to be a bit more rare on the dealer lots than MS. I noticed on KKB or Trucar when researching pricing that Patriot Blue was listed as 'late availability' along with a few other colors.

Greatest example given in this reply. Love my max steel

Another factor if you don't keep your truck for long: resale value.

From KBB: The Monetary Value of Color
So, you might ask, "Why does color matter?" Like many vehicle features, color plays a role in the residual value of your car. Put simply, today's popular color will probably make your vehicle more popular to a buyer five years from now.

Silver - 18%

I love Max Steel and was going to order a truck in that color. A dealer happened to have a Patriot Blue on the lot with every option so I took a ride to see if I like the color. Well I own it now and love it. Still like Max Steel but very happy with the blue. The blue goes from almost black to a beautiful bright metallic color depending on light conditions. It's beautiful

I looked at both and went Patriot. Both look awesome and change significantly in daylight. I went Patriot since its a little more unique in all light conditions. I'm not a big fan of chrome, but I feel the Patriot actually looks good with a little bit of chrome.

AGREE!!!

Patriot Blue in the sunlight with the chrome!!!!

Patriot Blue was my first color choice followed closely by the Delmonico Red. The Patriot Blue in the sunlight is special. Rarely in a photo will you see the justice in the color as you do looking at it in person. When I was considering to place order back in November, the dealer told me they no longer offered that color. I contact 800RAM and another dealer and was given same information. I didn't want to wait so went with the Del/Red since it grew on me.

I am down in Fort Myers Florida area and I have seen only "1" Patriot Blue driving around vs. 5 Delmonico Red.

If you have many crappy weather days, I would think the Max Steel would hide those first few layers of road dust/dirt just a bit better--since both are dark almost a "wash"...(sorry for play on words...lol).

Is Patriot Blue discontinued or on a production restriction of some sort?

I was able to order mine in mid-December. I'm currently D-1 and scheduled to start production on Monday.

That is good to hear!!! There goes my 3 quote concept (get minimum 3 separate quotes before a decision if time permits for variables). Based on RueferChi post, it seems you still have the option of the Patriot Blue color!!!!!
