I've had my 2017 Ram 1500 for about 3 years now. When I first bought it I put a lift/level kit in it with bigger tires (nothing crazy, 275/65r20) because the 255 whatever's on it looked silly. So my Speedo has been out for some time. I just lived with it until my brother mentioned that it will affect accuracy of the fuel economy reading as well as mess with shift points. He said his xtool d7 might be able to calibrate it. I hooked it up and started going thru all the settings looking for something that would let me change the tire size. I noticed on the BCM section that my region was "not set" (I live in Canada) so I was like "well maybe the setting I'm looking for isn't available until the region is set". Well, that was a mistake! Now my truck thinks it's a 2015 charger, I have 4 codes (abs, ebs, trailer brake and airbag) as well as my fuel gauge is only reading 1/3rd tank (just filled up prior to this oops!) and little things like I can't turn my blower fan to its highest setting (1 less works though) and I have no cruise control.
I have tried changing the region code to USA (VIN starts with a 1) and Mexico and I get the same thing, truck thinks it's a car. I can manually set the scan tool to my correct vehicle and access the BCM screen again (which I couldn't if I did the auto detect mode) but it won't let me just clear the region code, I have to pick one. Right now it's in my driveway with the negative battery cable off hoping to drain the BCM memory but something tells me a region setting isn't going to be cleared by doing this. Is there any way for me to remedy this myself? I've already made an appointment with the local dealer for Friday to have them do their thing on it. Also, will driving it like this do any harm to my truck? Thanks in advance, I feel like an idiot right now lol
