Hey everyone — I recently picked up a 2023 RAM 1500 Laramie, and it originally came with what I believe were cheaper P-rated tires that I ran at about 39 PSI. I just switched to BFG KO3s in the stock size, load rating d but went with the LT version. Belle Tire set them to 39 PSI cold, but I’ve been reading that LT tires usually need higher pressure. BFG’s site mentions around 50 PSI, and an online calculator put me closer to 48 PSI.

Just wanted to confirm if that sounds right and whether I should bump the pressure up even when the truck is empty. Also, if anyone else is running Lt KO3s, what PSI are you running day-to-day?

After using combined methods of chalk test and monitoring tire wear I have the rear at 30 and front at 40 when unloaded. I found this to be the case with Michelin Defender and current set of Cooper AT3, both 275/70 r18 E rated

That's crazy. I run my AT3's at 48 front, 40 rear. I usually get 55-60k miles out of my tires. The stock Rebel settings for the Duratracs were 55 front, 45 rear, but that not only felt rough it wore the centers of the tires.

I have a QC Bighorn, very few options so it's a lightweight. Payload is 1800 lbs

I run 39 in my Falken's... remember the value on the tire is the MAX psi. These wore great on my 2014. My 2024 wore the outside edges of the stock tires to the point they are ruined - toed in 1/4" (aligned yesterday).

If you run too much air, you'll wear out the middle of the tire.

Thanks for the responses, I gave belle tire a call and the manger suggested for me to stick to what is on the door jam for now when the truck in unloaded. He stated since we stuck to the same size tire and the Ko3 are only an 8 ply tire that you only need to increase pressure if wearing in the center or if towing or hauling. The tires that were on there before have a higher load capacity than these new ones. The old tires where the delinte dx-11 with a 117h load and the Ko3 have a 115/112s rating. Is he correct here just to run what is on the door?

It won't hurt to run what's on the door as long as the tires don't feel too soft or they wear on the edges. Wear in the middle is indicative of too much air pressure.
