I wish the cafeteria food was that great in the manufacturing facility where I worked for 45 years! A gourmet day for us was when they didn't burn the grease burgers and fries.

Location
southwest. where majority rules
Kind of. They run 3 crews M thru F + mandatory 2 out of 3 Saturdays (and a lot of Sundays too). It's both a blessing (good $) and a curse (no home life to speak of) if you work at a plant making a popular product.
7 days is over
the plant was in critical status until dec 24th which was mandatory 7 days. they can not do that again according to their contract.

just 6 days and it will probably be all volunteers

Right. Ultimately the company can do whatever they want as long as the local union goes along with it...and sometimes even if they don't. Been there. As of now their union blocked extending 'critical status'. Doesn't mean they won't try again. But they'll still be forced 2/3 Saturdays (if there's not enough volunteers) and there's almost always people willing to work for double time on Sundays. That's before taking into account any 'make up time' from parts shortages/downtime. The 1500 is one of their primary cash cows with a massive demand and no backup/alternate plant like Ford/Chevy 1/2 ton trucks. Corporate/plant management will work those people into the ground 24/7/365 if given the chance.
