I recently installed a Lock'er Down Rear Floor Safe
Initial Impression: The safe is constructed well and rock solid. I was initially worried that it was going to be small, but the foot print is almost identical to the stock bin. The opening is a bit smaller than I liked, but I can make due. I opted for the Abus lock as well as the rubberized coating for a total of 400$. The cost was very high, but I will sometimes carry fairly expensive items in the truck which more than justify the cost. I think this is a sold option when you also factor in the concealment aspect of the hidden floor storage. It is not a place that an average thief would consider to look. The door locks tight and is spring loaded.
Installation: Removal of the stock unit took all of 5 minutes and the installation was just as simple. Not much to discuss here. There is a mounting plate that is installed on the truck. The bin slides into the plate. Two bolts then connect the bin to the plate from the inside of the bin. There is a foam gasket that prevents the bin from clanging around. The bin has a lower profile than the stock bin which left a cavity under my stock all weather mats. To combat this, I added some 1/4 inch foam on some areas to add some height to the unit.
Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and will feel much better with leaving valuables in my truck. The side benefit is that it likely doubles as a "safe" for storing a side arm depending on your jurisdiction. In Seattle, they have safe storage laws that require transport in a "safe" (trigger or cable locks not adequate). Because this is a solid unit it should qualify (NOTICE: I'm not a lawyer) under the very vague law as written.
