limited rear shock replacement

Looking for insight or info on up grading rear shocks on a limited. my truck is currently at 90k mile + and I switched to a 20x9 wheel paired with 35x12.50r20 adding 20+ lbs to each corner. I have seen a thread of limited owners disassembling their front air strut and installing Bilstein's. I am wondering if the 5100 or b8 5160 (reservoir shock) can be a direct replacement for rear shocks with no crazy modification? looking for something a little more robust to handle the extra un-sprung weight.

Yes. Isn't the rear just an airbag by itself? Coming from the Grand Cherokee the rear shocks are standard and many swapped Bilstein.

Yes, either would be good candidates for the rear as they can accommodate the range of ride heights.

Rear shocks are physically separate from the air bags in the rear and mount in traditional fashion.

Have you made the switch to an aftermarket shock? Just want to double check it has been done from some one who has done it first hand and experienced no issues doing so before placing an order.

At 80,000 miles I am contemplating shock absorber replacement. it appears that Bilstein does not offer a stock replacement.
My application is 2-wheel drive , all highway, no off-road. So my requirements are: Ride quality, handling, longevity.
Should I go Mopar or is there something better?

Have you made the switch to an aftermarket shock? Just want to double check it has been done from some one who has done it first hand and experienced no issues doing so before placing an order.

As documented in the linked thread above, several of us have upgraded to the Bilstein models found on the Rebels with no reported issues. Both front and rear.
I went with the 4600 series but others have done the 5100 series as well.

There are other users here who have replaced the rear struts and I'm on the same boat as I'm about to replace my rear struts as well with Bilstein 5100

man, I wish I had the skill or tools to do the fronts! 35's on limited's are rough. doesn't take much for rear bump stops to kiss
