Lights Turned Off While Driving on the Interstate

Tonight when it was very dark out, I entered the interstate and got up to highway speed in heavy traffic. The headlights flashed on high beams twice, and then they went dark including my dash lights. I always use AUTO, no rain, snow, or debris on the road. I reached over to the light switch, turned to OFF and back to AUTO, and they came on and stayed on for the 30-minute commute home. 2019 1500 Limited eTorque, 48K miles. Has anyone had this issue?

Not experienced or heard of that. Sounds like you are saying your sensors were clean (weather conditions too). Please let us know if it is repeatable (intentionality or accidentally).

How many other sensors are there for headlights? I do like the auto on system but have to admit, I have never had a problem in a car with a switch going to a relay. All mechanical is very simplistic and tends not to fail.

Hope it does not happen for you again.

I think I might have found the reason my light went out. I didn’t mention that I have a Zautomotive TazerDT. It has a function call ‘Blackout Mode’. It isn’t supposed to work over 5 mph I thought! If you haven’t used a TazerDT all the features use the steering wheel controls to activate function like blackout. I guess I hit a combination of buttons that killed my lights. It kills all the light including interior and dash so it’s was quite the surprise! To activate any features you need to have Audio displayed on the instrument panel so now I make sure I don’t have TazerDT programming enabled by displaying a different mode like MPH. Happy Holidays!

My 1500 Longhorn edition just started doing the same thing. Driving to work all lights went out including dash and then came on dim then regular. It happened 3 time in my 15 min drive to work in dark. Any suggestions would be great!
