Fortunately, I don't have chips in the front bumper yet...but I haven't hit 2K miles yet either. But, it does remind me...
I need to order a touch up paint kit from Dr. ColorChip. I get one for every car. Worth every penny.

My front bumper is taking a beating. I’ll definitely be going back to chrome on my next truck.

Just put new wheels and tires on mine yesterday. I feel like Ram cheaped out with the factory 18s.

yeah black looks WAY better but takes a beating. My 2015 looked rough after 7 years. It rusted around the slots for the sensors. They have fixed that part by putting the sensors on plastic.

Damn, this front bumper seems to pick up chips super easy. Crazy how many I have after less than a year. I cant say I recall ever hearing a rock hit

Its a defect between the primer/paint adhesion with the bumper not ROCK CHIPS, well maybe a few, you can probably chip the paint by washing it and I'm serious about this. I only have 3000 miles and have paint chips not rock chips.... I went to Fords and Rams used car lot just to make sure it wasn't me bc I have other vehicles and with my gold saturn as my daily driver bulletproof car the Ram gets driven every so often. They all have these chips on these painted bumpers... on one used black Ram in the lot they touched up over 50 or more spots when I looked closely, looked terrible! FCA will blame the customer and say its rock chips but its not when you have 100's everywhere, my door handle has a chip too. The paint quality on the bumper is garbage and unacceptable, I've been working on cars for 20 years and I never use to see it this bad on the suv/trucks back in the 2000's. FCA has some quality control issues which include paint, water leaks, chrome plated wheels pitting, serpentine belt squealing in cold weather are just a few. My 3 90's cars still have factory paint and dosen't have this issue, I'm old school, I wax my vehicles and never heard of ppf garbage. So they make it that cheap you need ppf! I had to fight FCA for 3 months only 2000 miles just to get one chrome pitted wheel replaced; they blamed me saying outside influences automatic carwashes... when I told them I hand wash all my vehicles, my microfiber towel was catching on the pits in which I told them was a manufacturing defect. I took the wheel off and had them replace it not letting them put their hands on my vehicle! I asked them where the wheel weights were for the wheel and told them you didn't balance it... when I got home and checked the tire only 15 psi in the tire... so they only seated the bead, thats dangerous! I've been in the automotive, diesel/ agriculture/ aviation field for some time... I do all my own work, try to learn as much as I can and dont trust no one working on my vehicles because people are lazy and hacks, when I worked as a technician I treated every customers car as if it was my own regardless of how it looked, growing up in Detroit I had to catch the bus so I know how hard customers work for their vehicle, its their investment. I do my own alignments with a tomcat airbag for camber/ a bubble leveler and string and jack stands with measuring. I noticed my steering wheel was crooked to the right when I first got the Ram, I adjusted toe myself, the mopar serpentine belt would squeal under 30 deg. F in the cold, changed it to a gates belt myself, no more noise! I declined any extra warranties and don't even take it in for recalls.. rear camera glitching every blue moon... oh well I can look behind or reset it. And my tailgate latches fine so Im not letting them touch it to damage or scratch the vehicle. If I have a issue I'll do it myself or deal with it. Looking at new Rams im the lot... surface rust underneath is unacceptable bc surface rust turns to rust.

My black saturn of 19 years finally gave out which gave me a reason to finally get my first new vehicle even though I have my other gold backup saturn.

I knew what I was getting into when I went to Chrysler and I have been wanting a Ram for over 20 years so I was already prepared mentaly for whatever problems this truck will give me! My solution for the front bumper is maybe to get a second one and rhyno line it, or get a chrome one, or see about the rebel one. This is the reason I reasearched 2 yrs before buying and getting invoice and $4500 in rebates bc I'm not paying full price!! Vehicles should not cost this much but to me the Ram is my favorite and best looking truck despite its issues, I just hope I don't encounter water leaks, I hate dealing with those.

This is some touch up paint I just orded frome ebay.. seller: microautopartsinc form Highland Park, MI....PAU Crystal Granite metallic...just noticed a paint chip after washing it which wasn't there before, lol.

You have a backcountry truck and a chipped paint on your bumper?

You replaced your serp belt with a gates belt, we assume you have a standard hemi.

A little dirty on a Western muley hunt this week. Then home and cleaned up yesterday. Picked up a white topper from a 2020 for $500. Planned to use it just for hunting trips and such. Now kinda liking it on and may leave it on for winter.

I've been stood up/ghosted trying to buy two different white toppers off of FB marketplace. Seeing your truck just makes me want one all the more...

$500 is the deal I've been looking for, but I'm seeing them for $1500 used and $2600 new. It's insane.

I finally gave up and bought this stupid soft topper used. Actually, its a Bestop, which in terms of soft caps, is the best.
It'll get the job done until I find what I'm looking for. Need to wait for a warm up to tension it up completely, but so far I'm happy(ish) with it.

Like this? Just got back from a road trip and picked up at least 10 more.😡

I was driving in a snowstorm so guessing rock salt was the culprit.

For me, it only seems to be on the bumper too. The grill and hood look fine. Really wish I had put some paint protection film on the front now.

Anyone know if the painted black bumpers were improved since the early 2022 Backcountry trucks? Hope Ram would do something to stop/reduce the chipping.

My 22 Backcountry was built in Oct 22 & delivered in early November. Has right at 3000 miles now with two or three noticeable chips in the front bumper.
