Leaving Tailgate Down

My tailgate open light on the dash doesn't work, heard this was an issue, anyone know if they fixed it?

I will as I have done a few times now just close the 2 latches on the tailgate to simulate it being closed.
Easiest solution. Ill look and see if the wire adapter came with the truck.

The lights time out and shut off after 15 min of the truck being turned off with the tailgate down, I waited it out tonight
