So, My ABS, 4X4 are not working and the truck lets the dust in when traveling gravel roads. When winter occurs when I turn the blower on it will blow ice crystals to the interior. The Ram also doesn't shut the music off then I hit the start/off button and open my door (keeps playing and won't automatically shut off like it should). I've been leasing this vehicle for 9 months now. Dodge dealership has had it in the shop for 1 month already. So, I'm making a truck lease payment of over 1000 bucks and not even driving it. What are my options? Should I say "pay the lease payment"? Or should I ask for a new truck?

In a lease I am not sure if lemon law applies. I’m not familiar or sure if they consider it the same as a purchase. You may have to go to arbitration. I would start with a lemon low attorney though to see what they recommend

I can say from experience that the lemon law applies to leased vehicles.

Purchase or lease from my experience, it doesn't matter. Typically the vehicle has to go to the dealer for the same problem four times before you can go that route. I would contact Ram customer service and see what your options are. We had an issue with a 2014 Challenger that Dodge took back without much issue and no need to pay a lawyer.

Hi Truthdecay,
We're sorry to hear about your experience with your new Ram. Has a case been opened on the Customer Care side to add additional assistance while working with your dealer? If not, please feel free to send us a private message and we would be happy to get this process started for you!

Generally lemon laws require that the vehicle goes back to the dealer X number of times for the same problem, OR be at the dealership for X cumulative amount of time. I'd recommend the OP google the lemon laws for their state to see what the particular requirements are.

Hi, Its now been 1.5 months since I've last had my leased truck. I have contacted customer care. They have really done nothing. They phone me every week just to tell me that they're still working on it. They have now changed out the main computer and its still kicking out codes (last update- this friday). I asked Dodge if they are going to pay 2 months of lease payments since its just about due. He's basically said "lets get your truck back first, then we can talk about a good will gesture." I'm sorry, there is no such thing as a good will gesture. This truck crapped out at 8k KM. I paid for a new vehicle and make lease payments so this is prevented. The truck looks nice, but unfortunately the saying still holds true. Never just a book by its cover. The truck is plain ****. I'll have to go to arbitration if this truck isn't fixed in the next 1 week.

It's a lemon tell them to eat it.

I feel your pain RAM Brother.
I got my ram in January 2019, problems started to happen at 2000km.
It has been in & out of the shop 5 times now for the same problem and they have replaced different parts each time.
The last time they had it for 2.5 months and replace the entire wiring harness front to back, dismantling 60% of the truck.
I’ve been called 3 times now saying it’s ready for pick up and 3 times I went down and in less than 10 minutes each time I found missing bolts, loose ground connections, wire harness not secured by tabs attached to harness, main harness pinched between engine & chassis, etc.
Each time I go to pick it up I find it isn’t put back together properly or there is damage done and now they have to replace parts that their technicians damaged.
I got another call yesterday saying that it’s done, they had another technician go over it and it’s all good now.
Yea ok, I’ll be the judge of that..... I have my creeper, flash light, mirror wand and camera ready to inspect my brand new $77K 2019 rebuilt RAM 1500 with now 7000km on it.

No lemon laws in Canada so I’m screwed on a replacement vehicle but they can do a warranty repair every week for the next 7 years.

Wow, sorry to hear about your issues. I would be furious. A new truck should not require that much work. If it's not fixed 100%, you should try to get the dealer to buy it back.

Using Ram Cares, they won't do anything to help compensate until you get the truck back. I know this with another vehicle with FCA.

Research your lemon laws and stay on top of it all. Document everything. Nothing is too small to document. Get pictures and videos if possible. Speak with an attorney. Know your rights. Lemon laws vary by state so know your state's laws.

Have the dealer escalate your case up to the area manager and area engineer/technician. If you need email addresses I can hook you up with all the execs. Most will deliver and an executive referral manager will contact you.

Hi Truthdecay,
It does sound as if you may be located in Canada. If that is the case, unfortunately, our team is not authorized to work with customers outside of the U.S. If you are located in the U.S., please send our team a private message with your case number and we would be happy to look into this to ensure you are working with the appropriate party.

Yes Canada. Thanks anyways. Canada Dodge Customer Care is involved. Other than phoning me, telling me my truck isn't ready, they really don't give any real alternatives.

I'll keep that in mind. They called again today. Going to change out the transfer case. Another week waiting for the parts. If this doesn't fix it then I'l going to take you up on your offer.

Update: Dodge just called me. they now changed the transfer case and it didn't solve the probelm. Dodge customer care was a bit rude when I asked how much longer. "We'll get it done when its gets done". I'm sick of this I'm filing arbitration.

I posted this on another thread. Give this a try.

Email the FCA executive department. You will get a call most likely from their referral managers. I gave someone this idea earlier and they already called him.
Here's a list I used in the spring. I think a couple have changed already. Key things, don't send attachments or don't send a group email. You will probably get a couple bounce backs. Not all except email outside FCA. Any that have changed can be looked up on their corporate page or a little digging.

Your screwed. Thanks to Ram until you meet the lemon law requirements for your state they won’t do anything. Then you have to sue them good luck. This is my last Chrysler.

Here is FCA HQ's phone numbers. CALL THEM and keep asking for a higher level exec until one of them promises to help you!

The consumer line is 1-800-334-9200. The Chrysler Group LLC phone number (Chrysler headquarters) is 1-278-576-5741.
