Latchit Rack

Have seen people mention Latchit Rack for bicycle hauling and think it is a great idea. I am curious how people feel about it as a bed extender as well. A typical bed extender isn't perfect for bikes, and sure the latchit isn't perfect as a bed extender either. Anyone with real world experience using it in this fashion?

$400 for what is essentially hanging them on the tailgate seems a bit steep. Guess it gives you more room in the bed since it's over the tailgate.
