I have a BMW GS. I like to use a 3/4" piece of plywood that I cut the length of the bed plus tailgate and of course trim the wheel wells. That way the weight is distributed more evenly for the rear wheel. It is cheap insurance.

I miss my 2500 with 8 foot bed some times. One of these days, I am going to buy a utility trailer that will double as a motorcycle hauler.
