Purchased a 2020 Big Horn back in January with 42,500 miles. Since then I’ve had:
-Rear window leak/full window replacement
-Service auto start/stop light
-Low oil pressure CEL
-Has stalled 4 times at stop signs
-Bad serpentine belt/pulley
-eTorque whining
-Coolant smell inside the cab
And the catastrophic issue: Full engine tear down due to stuck cam shaft pin? It backfired pulling out of my driveway, 30 seconds later I got a CEL for High Air Flow along with about 3 or 4 other warning lights and the truck went in to limp mode. Took it to the dealer and was told that it will be there for 2+ weeks as they have to completely tear down the engine to inspect the cam shaft. FCA engineers will be visiting my dealer just to look at my truck since since there is apparently a service bulletin out for similar cases but no definitive cause or reason for why it happened. It gave me a code U1428 and P2173 which are unrelated to the cam so I don’t know where the dealership was getting a camshaft diagnosis from but we’ll see.
None of these issues were present during test drive and first two weeks of ownership. All of this leaves me in a predicament where I love the truck but 7 issues and a combined month and a half in the shop in only 3 months of ownership is making me lean towards getting rid of it. Luckily it has all been covered under warranty. I get that it’s used and these issues could be a mix of a ****ty build and ****ty prior owner maintenance but I’m really conflicted on what to do.
TLDR: have had the truck for 3 months, it’s had 7 significant issues and has been in the shop for almost half of the time I’ve had it. Really want to keep it but can’t keep driving around a ticking time bomb.
