I've read on the forum and seen videos on YouTube that the K&N cabin air filter actually lets more air pass through so I decided to change mine so I put a K&N in the truck. The K&N does work a lot better than the other filters I've tried in there I really noticed a difference. The A/C seems to be working a lot better now.

I guess that I'm speaking a bit out of my rear end, but much like your furnace filter, you can buy air filters that are thinner and let more air pass through. The question one really needs to be able to answer is whether the filter is doing the intended job.

I wonder how we survived so many years WITHOUT a cabin filter?😆

I noticed them same. My AC is wayyy better since switching to K&N. Totally worth the price.

I didn't have a cabin filter in my last car and I survived.

Sure it would flow better but then you potentially get debris in the evaporator core, blower motor, etc.
yup. That's why I didn't say to remove it. lol

Came here looking for alternatives to paying Mopar prices for filters. Not in the mood to spend $300 in filters for my ram and cherokee (bought vehicles at the same time..both need them). You seem to mock what others are doing but haven't put out what you run in your ram. Curious to know because I was leaning between the wix or the k&N. You paying the stealership prices on filters for your ride?

I have to say, I remember reading all the rave reviews about how the K&N cabin filter made their A/C work better, but never noticed a difference. Probably because my A/C has always seemed to work fine for me.

However, what I will say is that I love the fact I won't be buying those factory priced OEM filters anymore. I stupidly bought one the first time around for almost 30 bucks, but luckily not anymore.

The K&N cabin filters seems to flow at least as good as the original while being reusable, fits perfectly fine, seems to function great (tons of positive reviewsonline), looks like a good alternative.

It definitely flows better

I have had my Nuesed truck for just over a year. I recently changed my cabin air filter and engine air filters. I purchased both from my local Wal-Mart. The engine air filter is a Fram (I think Extra Guard - the better of the 2 they sold). I do not remember the brand of the cabin air filter ( I got one that did not have the carbon.)
I compared the filters in the truck to the ones I bought, visually they appeared to be the same quality. The engine filter seemed to be the same thickness from the top to bottom, and the density of the filter material seemed to be similar. The Cabin air filter also appeared to be the same size and filter media appears to be the same. The engine filter I think was a Mopar part, the cabin air filter was not marked. I did go to my dealer parts department to see if the parts were in stock and the costs. I am price-sensitive due to my economic situation. I priced parts on several various auto parts places to compare prices and reviews. Wal-Mart had the parts and the filters I purchased when compared over several parts retailers had similar quality parts with good reviews.
I watched a few YouTube videos on how to change the cabin air filter. My experience - it's a bit of a bugger to get the glove box in and out. Takes a bit of finesse and patience but is very doable. The engine air filter is very simple, you need a 7 or 11 mm (I can't remember) socket with an extension, and takes 5 mins in and out.

Thanks man... I picked up the k&n engine filter today from autozone and installed it..they ordered the cabin filter will be here tomorrow. Everything is so expensive these days nice to know they next couple of filter changes are just cleanings.

Ya nothing is cheap anymore.

I have both engine air and inside air filters and am very happy. I was really surprised at how bad the cabin filter was after only 8m miles. I can now hose off any time i want and i like that!

Ya nice to be able to just clean when you want.

Have any of you bought the their cabin cleaning kit? Wonder if it's worth it or just wash in the sink.

This kit is interesting, besides a cleaner it comes with refresh spray to eliminate odors, probably a sort of Febreze thing.
