I currently own a 2022 Gladiator Max Tow. We have a 26' travel trailer that weighs 5,500 lbs loaded up for camping. The Gladiator pulls it, but it works at it. We traded down from a 36' 5th wheel and I felt I just no longer needed my 18 6.7 CD. My wife and I are in our mid 60's with me being retired and she working remotely from home or when we're traveling. I think we both miss the interior space of the Ram, it was a Big Horn Crew Cab with the bucket seats and 115 power outlet. I found a 2021 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab with the Level 2 interior with the 3.92 gears and 11,000 miles. From the carfax report, it was a commercial vehicle for the dealer. Just trying to get some perspective before I talk to my wife. Since I just bought the Gladiator in April, I don't think she will be too happy, but I think she would prefer the comfort again. Sorry for the long first post.

I'd prefer the Ram for comfort and over the road towing, Gladiator is more off-roady. If you can work a trade that isn't too expensive, it might be a better fit. Getting the wife approval is entirely on you, though. ;)

I’ve bought a mustang and a chevy truck marked the same and had no issues with either. I don’t really feel a shop truck is a problem, especially if they had them gps tracked (not all dealers do). I think you’ll like towing with the 1500 a lot more. It is a 5.7L, right? Personally, I wouldn’t go from a 3.6 to another 3.6 if you want to tow.

Yes, 5.7, 3.92, Level 2 equipment. Only 26 gallon fuel tank though.

I will update with pictures of the 1500 when I pick it up. Thankfully the wife was onboard.
Congratulations and welcome to the forum. In the long run, you’re safer, you’re stronger, and you got much more “truck” to benefit from. Good luck, and Happy Holidays!!!🤙🏽

Nothing wrong with a 26 gallon tank. It will get you further than the Gladiator could in a tank of gas, while towing. And unloaded, you should be able to get 400 miles out of a tank. Which is further than I would want to drive without a stop anyways

That's how my wife and I feel. We usually try to keep travel days to around 300 miles. It's nice to be retired. I guess I can swap to the 33 gallon if I feel it's needed.

You’ll love the way that 5.7 pulls, should be about a even trade I would think, or try to sell the jeep on your own? And yes the ram has a lot more room and rides so much better! Why not build a new one exactly the way you want it? I built mine with air ride ($1800 option) I believe, but what a great ride while towing extra weight, truck is always 100% level. Good luck and I hope you enjoy whatever you end up with👍🏻

Drove 3 hours to Phoenix from Sierra Vista to get the new truck. Very happy with how nice it is. With only 11,200 miles on it, it's pretty much a new truck. I don't have to break it in before we pull the travel trailer. I'll take more pictures in a couple weeks when I'm hooked up for our trip to the Grand Canyon?
