Issues with Waze

I have the 14” uconnect screen and whenever I first try to set a destination in Waze, either a saved destination or one that I looked up, and as soon as I select the destination Waze locks up until it crashes and shuts down. I can then start up Waze again and select a destination and it will work like normal.

This happens every single time that I try to use Waze, no matter where I select a destination (on the uconnect screen or even if I get Waze going on my phone before starting the truck.

Has this happened for anyone else? I’m using an iPhone 16 pro max with the latest iOS version and as far as I know the latest uconnect software (I haven’t had an update pop up yet).

I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling Waze, unpairing and re-pairing my phone to the uconnect, soft reset of the uconnect, updated the app, and now I tried a complete reset of uconnect back to factory defaults….and Waze still locks up until it shuts down when I first select a destination.

Does it only do it when the phone is connected to the truck? Have you tried it when it isn't connected? I'm going to guess, but I seriously doubt there is a fix. There have been so many issues with Uconnect, but they don't fix them.

Yeah it’s only when I’m using CarPlay. Another member in one of the Facebook groups I’m in is saying that it’s happening with him too. I use CarPlay wirelessly and he uses it wired via usb.

He also says that he has several friends that are having the same issue with Waze, but they have different vehicles from different manufacturers…so this looks like it’s a Waze issue.

you like waze better than g-maps? i have been using google map for years, never have a issue and i drive a 18 wheeler with it for about 500k miles. i also use it in Italy again no problems

I like to use Waze so I can open up google maps to see traffic conditions ahead on my route. Google maps is the only app out there that easily shows where traffic is bad. Apple Maps….horrible. Even Waze is pretty bad as well.
