Yes, push the start button without your foot on the break.

You can put it in 'run' without the motor running. Just don't put your foot on the brake and push the button till RUN illuminates.

Been there done that, very frustrating. That's what happens when you buy a new vehicle after many many years, at least for me anyhow.

Like everyone has already mentioned, DO NOT put your foot on the brake pedal and hit the start button once for accessory or twice for run without starting the engine.
