Is the anti slip diff fully mechanically autonomous?

Or does it need braking from the wheel that is slipping for it to work ?

If so, does that happen in an instant ?

Or is it more for a controlled environment like climbing out of a wet boat ramp or a driveway ?

Speaking of this how fast do you guys think the 4wd engages when you keep the car in 4 auto ?

Basically I’m curious if I’m going on interstate at 60mph and hit a slippery section, or when I lose traction due to wet road on a ramp, would the anti diff or 4auto actually do anything?

It has clutches and will engage when the drive wheel slips.
