Is it possible to disable trip data recording?

This is a question for Ram techs. Is it possible to temporarily disable recording trip data or delete a specific trip from the truck's memory? I ask because all of the trips where I have driven the truck show up in the app; however, there's one specific trip where I know the truck was driven by a dealership employee where it does not. Thanks!

does the info show up on the dash?
maybe the dealer can put the truck in service mode and it does not record
when I had the app the dash still showed when the truck was driven by dealer.

Here's the background. I'm sure I've already doxxed myself if they are on this thread so why not. The truck needed paint work from pre-purchase inspection. They drove it to a local body shop to have the bumper painted. That trip was recorded and generated alerts for hard acceleration and hard turning with a top speed of 90+mph. I made a comment to the service advisor that they may want to remind whomever drives it back from the body shop that the customer can see how they drove it (like it was stolen, etc.). Conveniently, the return trip from the body shop wasn't recorded. This leads me to suspect they disabled the recording somehow as I don't believe in coincidences. I realize that I have no recourse as there's no way to prove my suspicion but I'm just curious if it's as simple as unplugging something or putting it in service/dealer mode to keep that from recording.

I'm not sure where to find this on the dash. I just went and looked through what's viewable but there doesn't seem to be any trip information other than the standard A/B mileage stuff. The information I'm referring to is the flight data recorder stuff that you can get from the Ram app under All Trips. This particular trip is not there.

My app has "missed" some trips (over 100 miles per trip) that I have driven,so it could be just a coincidence that the return trip from body shop didn't get logged. Still totally not cool they drive someone else's vehicle in that manner. On a side note does the fuel economy numbers in the app make any sense?

There isn't a way for a dealer employee to delete/modify trips.

I did see one anomaly where it only recorded about half the trip so maybe it was just a coincidence this time. I was just curious if anyone knew of a way to temporarily disable it.

I noticed the fuel economy in the app seems pretty harsh. I haven't tried to do any math on that yet but it tells me I get like 3mpg on just about every trip and I'm not that bad of a driver. The gas gauge doesn't seem to agree either.

Curious on where you find these trip recordings. I don’t see where I can view anything in the Ram App? Is it a 2025 thing? The Ram App is what I use to lock/unlock, start/stop, etc. Has mileage, health reports, etc. Is this where you are looking? Thanks Bob F

I hadn’t found that section of the app yet. Just looked to see how my truck was driven by the MD delivery guy when they delivered my truck to me. I am happy to report that the delivery driver was much nicer to my truck (never hauling donkey) than I will ever be.

I’m wondering the same🤔

Scroll down on the main app screen to “All Trips”. Once you click on that section, it will bring up the individual trips that you can then click on and it will give you average miles per gallon, top speed, duration, mile driven, and so on.

they coulda towed it somewhere.. dealerships do that quite often..

I considered that possibility and was hopeful that they did it; however, there was an additional 20 miles on the odometer as well as fuel consumed.

Don't forget about all the alerts it shows. The ones that caught my eye were the Hard Acceleration and Hard Turning alerts. Kinda curious what it takes to generate a Hard Turning alert. While it was at the body shop, I set a boundary alert so I could know when it left the body shop. That was pretty cool. LOL

Agree, it’s pretty cool technology. The valet mode also lets you set up boundaries. It defaults to sending an alert when the truck travels move than 1/4 mile from the location that it was placed in valet mode.

Hmm. At the bottom of my Ram App I have —Speed— Curfew— Boundary
Under that there is — Valet
All are turned off
Nothing says —Trips
Is this a package you pay for? I only have the assistance pkg. that I pay for

You may be onto something. I have the Guardian Remote package currently in a trial. I had that package on my 21 and paid for it so I could have the remote start from the app. The next package up from Assistance is Remote and has Vehicle Finder so that might be why you don't see it. On mine, there's a section right above the Speed/Curfew....stuff that has a map of where the vehicle currently is along with the last trip and the All Trips option.

Now that I look at it a bit closer, I currently have 5 active Ram Connect trials of all the various packages. LOL It's kinda confusing because there's overlap in some of the packages and the expirations vary from 2 months to 10 years. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. The detailed location stuff is not really something that I care enough about to pay a subscription. Ima need to pay special attention to make sure they don't auto-renew all this crap.

This is starting to make a lot more sense now. Most reasonable people probably wouldn't pay for all this so that could be why the dealership employees were not already immediately aware that a customer could monitor what they did to their vehicles.

The sad truth is that all this vehicle data (plus more that we don't even know about) is being sent to the cloud, regardless. We just have to pay to see it.
