Interior dome light size and map light lens cover removal

I'm in the process of converting my interior lights to LEDs and was wondering what size the interior dome light is. I've seen references on here to 41mm but the Lasfit site is showing 44mm for the 2021 RAM. Diode Dynamics has a 41mm festoon but their 44mm has wire/loop contacts which obviously won't work.

Also, what is the best tool to use to remove the map light lens covers/diffusers? I don't have anything small enough to fit in between the lens and the housing without damaging either. I tried over the weekend to remove the housing itself by removing the two front bolts that anchor it to the roof. I was able to get the two front clips free but I could not get the back clips free. I was very afraid that I was either going to break those two back clips or damage the headliner with the amount of force it felt like it was going to take to get those back clips off.

At this point, if at all possible, I'd like to just pop the lens covers off.

You’ll never get it done by just popping the lenses off. You will need to remove the unit from the ceiling. Grab it and pull...it will come off. YouTube has a number of videos on how to do it to guide you. Below is one which also details the festoon bulb.

Just pull straight down on the back clips? The front clips were locked in place with small tabs.

I bought the Lasfit dome and it is loose in there, like every time I close a door it moves around, it doesn’t sit snug

You need to gently pinch the connectors together and then install the bulb...common with any of the festoon bulbs regardless of manufacturer.

interesting that he says they’re made in The USA yet it clearly says made in China on the package.

In mine it doesn’t have bulbs. LED chips on a board. I haven’t seen anyone else talk about these. 01DFA3A2-F61A-4608-AB01-743C0E2437A0.jpeg
