What’s the best way to lower the volume (attenuate) the stock Harmon Karden subwoofer (not via the radio equalizer)?

is there a variable attenuator (old school L-pad) for this?

Nothing short of running your own signal and amplifier to it. The problem is the factory amplifier has the HK sub boosted in certain areas, and it sounds like ****.
