I drove 40 miles today in the city and averaged 17.8 mpg

I turned my heat off at every red light so the start stop would work and I was going the speed limit. I would let off the gas and coast to red lights. I usually average around 12.5 mpg. I was surprised how much better it is when you drive like your 80. I might do this part of the time going forward because TRX wheels are going on Saturday. I will probably struggle to get 12 mpg on normal driving.
 
Yup, if you can brave angering all the drivers behind you and take it really easy, you can get good gas mileage on a Rebel. I tried the same thing late at night when no one was on the road, and I was able to get incredible mileage driving like there was a uncooked egg under my throttle pedal and trying not to break the shell.

But also the same when I drive like normal, barely getting 13.
 
It's possible, just takes a lot of patience and practice. I'm getting to the point that I'm trying not to look at MPG's and just enjoy the truck. :D I usually average around 17-19mpg though.

That’s the tough part is trying to not worry. For me, I think it’s ingrained now. Even on the Eco diesel, I use my current mpg readout as a fuel saving “check” of sorts. I keep it in a certain range when accelerating, cruising, and going up hills. I know which conditions cause a mpg drop, and adjust for them. I really should just not worry and enjoy the truck though.

It's tough on some people. I am use to it and I pay a lot of attention to the sound of the engine as well. If I really try to be eco friendly, I've gotten as high as 21-22mpg on a full tank of gas. Right now I'm getting usually about 19 which for me that's amazing!
 
Yep 2021 e torque is around 20.8 on last tank of gas. My 2019 5.7 was about two mpg less than the e torque
 
I will try to push it tomorrow to see if I can see 20 mpg. The 3.92s are not helping. LOL
 
Under the very slightest acceleration my rebel has no problem reading 9 mpg, on dead straight flat roads @ 55-60 it hits 15 mpg, @ 65-70 16mpg. this thing is 5mpg less than my 15 laramie 5.7.

The 3.92's aren't hurting your mileage unless you spend a lot of time on the freeway above 75 mph.
 
im really trying to just enjoy my new outrageous Rebel, absolutely gorgeous trucks, but the gas mileage is abysmal not even close to the laramie, if mpg is your major concern dont get a rebel.... im gonna need a 2nd mortgage when i start towing the boat and jet skis this summer. ! were talking on avg. 15.5 vs 18.5..... towing i used to get 15 w/ my laramie,,,, the rebel will prolly be 10 no kidding. you figure in approsx. 3 or so mpg difference that nearly 100 miles / tank were talking an extra 20.00 / tank full..
 
I agree. With just a few tweaks around town, you can really improve the MPG. I get way better mileage in the city than I do on the highway. Using non-ethanol I can get 18 to 19 on my daily commute in the city, but at highway speeds (65 to 75 MPH) it drops to 15.5.
 
It’s tough to do but it’s possible. Highway miles going to pick up the GF and back home. Going 70ish most of the way and it’s not flat roads.

I have a 22 Ram that is a 3.92 with e-torque. It gets about 15.9 mpg and I mainly drive back roads with a little bit of highway. My 2018 RAM that was a 3.21 got about 18 mpg driving the same roads. Pretty big difference! I'm pretty sure that my 2015 RAM that was a 3.92 got close to 18 mpg as well.
