Hurricane HO Oil Change Pricing Question

You’re right that’s my Hemi I was referring to for that price using PUP. Just looked up 0-W40 of the same oil buying in 5 qt jugs and 8 qts would be about $66 plus oil filter for the Hurricane. There are good oil deals out there, just need to look. I just pulled up an Amazon price quickly since I usually buy my oil there in packs of three 5 qt jugs. Cheapest way I have found to buy oil. Individual quarts get expensive quickly. 5 qt jugs are way more convenient too.
Post the link to Pennzoil 0-w40 Ultra Platinum please.

Not available in 3 pack of 5 qt jugs right now for some reason but were earlier this morning. Only in 6 pack of 1 qt but still a reasonable price.

Thanks, but honestly for about $5 or $10 more to have someone else deal with it and get rid of the old oil, its still worth it to me for $89

If you can get it done for $89 that’s great. My original reply was in reference to the OP receiving a $273 quote for an oil change. That’s as crooked as it gets for a dealership.

$270 is about what my dealer charges for a Mopar Service Plan consisting of 3 synthetic oil changes. Is OP sure that isn't what service writer meant?

I have a 2025 HO, Longhorn model; you can change the oil/filter on these new trucks with a suit on.....SO, SO easy......no mess, no fuss. I have a lift, so that helps big time....and I also have a waste oil burner, so no need to transport and/or dump my waste oil all over the floor or my truck when taking to recycling center. 0W-40 is not "special" oil; it is as commonplace as any other grade of synthetic oil. Advance Auto Parts has/had a special for 5 qts of FULL synthetic Mobil 1 WITH filter for less than $40. I know our HO's need more than 5 qts/change, so just buy a few kits of the oil/filter package; won't go to waste and there is no shelf life on the filter. No need to keep your receipt....they'll take your waste oil also. FWIW, I go full 10K on mileage with my oil, as most of my driving is highway. It's the stop and go, city driving which gunks up your oil and might necessitate more frequent change intervals. My other truck is a 2500 with the 6.7L Cummins........286,000 miles on 10,000 mile intervals.......never had a problem.....granted I have 12 qts of oil in that crankcase. Wheels down!!!

Local dealer 1 mile away from me unfortunately closed down. They used to have a special of 2 oil changes + tire rotation for $199.

Wow! I am the OP. Thanks for all the replies. To set a couple of things straight - it was a dealer and was $273 for only 1 oil change. They said the Mopar coupons would not apply because the truck takes more than 6 quarts. I talked to a friend that has a jeep and he confirmed that the dealership in question is known to gouge customers. He said that CDJR dealer is as expensive or more expensive than the local Mercedes dealer. Obviously I won't be going back to them when there are a few others to chose from in the area.

Generally I have used dealers for oil changes through the expiration of the warranty. I like having the relationship with the dealer and having the oil change on their records. This may change if I am getting gouged by all of them.

After that - I do many of the oil changes myself, mainly because it is faster and easier than taking it somewhere. And I enjoy doing it. But I still appreciate not always having to do it myself if not too expensive. I still have my Hemi Ram with 210K miles on it as well as 2 other vehicles (one a turbo) with over 200K - and I will get flamed for this - all changed within the 10K mileage interval of the maintenance minder and no internal engine issues.

The one poster who made the comment that they are charging the price based on the value of the truck and not the the value of the oil change was spot on. And - there are many people who can afford an HO truck who would just go ahead and pay. However there are many of us who like to get a good deal and take umbridge at getting ripped off.
