My phone is paired with UConnect using Bluetooth. Sometimes I need to use Google maps. Does anyone here know how the quickest way to let sound of my phone get redirected to the speakers in the truck? Thanks!

You didn't say if it is an Android or iPhone.

If you have either the 8.4" or 12" screen in your truck just plug it into one of the USBs under the radio and use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay (depending on which phone you have). Then you'll not only be able to hear it, but interact with it on the the truck's larger screen instead of using your phone's smaller screen.

I can simply select Bluetooth as the source of sound w/o using my iPhone's CarPlay.

Unless you are already playing music off your phone (over the Bluetooth connection) I don't believe you can get the directions to come over the speakers (for example when listening to the radio). At least I've never had any luck getting my wife's iPhone to do it on any Uconnect system. Carplay will inturupt all sources though (radio, CD, USB, etc) to announce directions.

CarPlay is fantastic. I plug my phone in every single time and everything is on the touch screen. I’m usually playing music and when I need directions I’ll enlist google maps and the google lady will give me directions through the speakers as I’m driving. Music will politely turn down so the google lady can speak and when she’s done the music kicks back in. And my phone also gets a nice charge in the meantime!

If you have CarPlay in your car I would highly recommend that (as others have).

The only way I have been able to do what you are asking is -

1-Have it paired to play music and be playing the music

2-Go to the music app (in my case Apple Music or pandora), open it, and “force close” the app by swiping up on it to “flick it off the screen”

For some reason if I just press pause on the music the GPS will also not come through the audio system lol, so crazy.

If someone has any easier way of doing this please share! I normally use CarPlay but sometimes I just go oldschoolcool.
