How do you wash your RAM?

I used my foam cannon with chemical guys honeydew snow foam for the first time today. I’m not disappointed with the results but I ain’t impressed either. How do you guys wash your trucks? What’s the best soap to water ratio for the foam cannon? Do you let it sit and scrub? Do you spray the foam while it’s dry? If you don’t use a common bow do you wash it? Sorry for the lame pics it got dark on me. Lol

In reply to your title, I wash my truck with a $5 bill at the local car wash.... to their credit it’s a really good operation with modern soft touch equipment that’s very well maintained but my truck is just that, a truck that’s used as my daily driver, tow vehicle and load carrier.

Now, on my Porsche’s it’s only hand wash, two bucket system with spotless treated water. The foam canons are a bit of a fad, they don’t replace the hand wash but they do provide good lubrication so you don’t need as much soap in the wash bucket. In fact, with a canon you can almost forgo the wash bucket and double up on the rinse bucket.

Did you hand wash after the canon or just rinse? And what soap did you use? I’m partial to Adams but chemical guys has some good stuff too.

As mjw said, foam cannons have their purpose, but are only part of the mix. If you have had you paint sealed, the result is more impressive from foam alone. However, it is still not enough. I use CG soaps as well whether on our camper, daily drivers or my hit rods or even washing the house! I like them. After a good foam blast and run, I rinse and use the two bucket method using very plush microfiber wash mitts and pads and rinse final with an open hose to minimize spotting. I always blow dry with my backpack yard blower. I often finish with a detailing spray compatible with what I've protected the paint with. I do this even for my trucks, which I do use as trucks, because it's always paid me back. YMMV

Time honored method to make sure you keep washing with clean soapy water. Google is your friend or even the CG how-tos have a video on the two bucket wash. Sounds like you'll find you've been washing wrong too. No circular motion, long straight passes, and always wash top of vehicle down. This isn't a fad either. It's been the conesseur's method for maintaining paint for a long, long time.

$29 monthly unlimited membership to car wash. Same for the wife's car. I used to 2 bucket, hand wax, etc. Lifes to short. I now value my time more and no longer waste it on rubbing down my sheet metal. Even now I still have to remember to hit the car wash at least once a week so I'm not wasting my membership! And I no longer buy black cars. I was a slow learner on that one.

Not sure if the PH levels are right. I just wet it really good and then hit it. No circular motion. This is what I use. Last picture is the result.

I pre-soak with soap cannon and only use one bucket method as each section gets clean mitt (front and back of mitt x 4 mitts). I don't bother rinsing & re-using same mitt as I used to use 2-bucket method until I realized how much dirt stayed attached to mitts even with grit guard, and I was putting dirty water back on my rig.

I run it through once a week regardless (Truck sits on the Coast for 7 days at a time when at work) then every other week I'll go for the whole wipe down/wax/interior cleaning.

Not so long ago I would wash by hand using the 2 bucket system and all Adams products. Now I just run it into one of the local hand wash places and let them do it. I do keep a bottle of Adams detail spray handy for when my ocd kicks in

From CA and i have monthly wash from shell 1 wash/day and using toughless so no worry about scratching it and beside foam wash they have soap and shield plus undercarriage wash. This is may be an idea you should consider and check around in yours area. And good thing is your truck always shine.
