Highway driving is bad or is it the roads?

My Rebel drives and rides very well on the highway. Have you checked the air pressure. When I got mine home after taking delivery, they were all very high, dealership had not adjusted them. If I remember they were all 65 plus psi.

I was very disappointed on the ride quality driving at speeds of 80-90 mph. At some point i thought the hood was going to fly off. The hood wobble was horrendous, to the point that it had wobbled the black trim at the top of the hood loose. It popped the driver side of trim off and I had to stop and push it back in. Very disappointing to have that happen.

Anyone have this issue?

Are these concrete highways by chance?


Do you notice the same issues at the same speeds on asphalt stretches?

Some regions use concrete slab sections that are at just such a length that they absolutely do not play nice with certain wheel bases.

But also IMHO DuraTrac tires don’t have the highest reputation for quality either.

First thought is one wheel is out of balance or has a manufacturing defect. I’d definitely tell the dealership and have them balance the tires first to see if it fixes it.

My son needed a relief driver for his move to Fort Collins, CO in a diesel 26' Penske International box truck.

South of Pueblo, Co to Denver on IH-25 the concrete is perfectly screened to be out of phase with the truck's wheelbase at 70 MPH.

When you were below 60 MPH the truck's suspension could handle the road but the faster you went and as you approached 70 MPH the truck would start to bounce.

At 70 MPH everything in that truck would be rattling like crazy and we were bouncing up and down in the seats.

He rented too big of a truck for the move with lots of room leftover in the back and I wondered how a 24' truck would have handled the road.

Ha as a Denver Metro resident that’s exactly the stretch I had in mind when asking about the concrete highways.

I’ve been through multiple sets of tires and suspension setups in no small thanks to that stretch.

My 25 Rebel rides v ery good. I'm TX. When you go to the dealer see if you can test another Rebel and see if the issue is present in the second truck.

My 2024 wandered like crazy at highway speeds when I first bought it. Did some research, checked the tire pressures and found them to be 65 psi all around, which is "transport" psi. I lowered the front to 55 and the rear to 45 and it drove great afterwards.

I had a similar issue with my 19 Limited but it only happened on certain stretches of road. I replaced tires and played with pressures but it ended up being a blown shock on the passenger front. The truck rode decent enough everywhere else but as mentioned above, certain stretches of road with the concrete patches would trigger an oscillation that the blown shock couldn't recover from. I replaced the OEM Hitachi shocks with the Bilstein versions and the trucks been awesome ever since.

I had 113k miles on the OEM shocks and 3 of the 4 were still decent but I slammed a pothole a couple months earlier and wasn't surprised that it blew the shock.

In some thread here a few years ago someone who is an automotive technician posted a photo of the screen that gives the car’s tire pressure and all of them were reading in the mid-nineties. The customer’s complaint was unable to fill tires to 100%.

sounds like a set of Fox 2.5 PE should take care of that problem lol
can crank the knobs to make it softer, and then crank the knobs the other way when you need to remove body roll in the canyons.
