Hi everyone, I've been having this issue for a while now: right after starting the engine, there's a rattling or clicking noise. It doesn't happen if the car has been parked in the garage for a longer period. But if I've been driving, the noise occurs almost every time I start the engine again. Has anyone heard this before and knows where it might be coming from?

Interestingly, the noise only occurs when I start the car using the start button inside the vehicle. When I use the remote start, I haven’t heard the noise so far. Has anyone experienced this and knows what might be causing it?

Sounds almost like my truck when starting with my foot on the brake. It could be the ABS charging up.
Try taking your foot of the brake pedal at the moment you press the start button and the starter motor engages.

Thanks a lot. I tried it the last days and it showed, that the sound is gone. Do you have any technical idea what this sound make happening when I let the food on the pedal?

Thanks you! Have a nice vacation. We are leaving germany for vacation in 2 weeks to fly to Florida....
I can look into it ones I get back home from vacation, alldataDIY does not let me sign in from Finland.
My vaccaion is over, my son had a car exident... so we are back in germany. Do you had the chance to find something about the reason why the sound is gone?

Thanks

There is a recall to update the ABS software on certain Ram trucks. No idea if this is related to your question or if your truck is affected. Another recall requires replacing the HCU. Get your VIN and see if your vehicle is impacted by a brake recall:

Could be broken exhaust manifold bolt that's rattling around when you start it up. Do you hear it making a ticking sound when idling when cold on one side of the engine?

no is not broken bolt or anything. it is just when my food is on the brake. It is clearly looked to this, I can start the ram anywhere and anytime without the sound wenn I take the food of the break and otherwise when I let the food on the brakepadel till the engine is running.

sorry, but the link didn`t work for me. I get everytime i click on the link "access denied" my because I looked up from outside the usa.

So back to the beginning. I think about stick an stetoscophe to the ABS Modul when I start the engine to hear whats going on there an second to the mainbrake cylinder unit in the engine compartment. Hope to know more after these tests.

Another stethoscope option is a few feet of fuel line, a stick, and some tape. Loose end of the hose goes in an ear, the stick can probe for sounds. Watch out for and don't stick it into spinny bits.

Also handy for balancing dual Stromberg downdraft carbs on an MG engine (this is how I learned about it back in the day).
