A low hum/growl sound started in my 2022 Ram 1500 two wheel drive with 49k miles. Took it to the stealership since I have the extended warranty. They said it was the front wheel bearings. I've since learned the whole hubs will be replaced since the bearings are integrated into the hub.

My limited experience with bearings come from pulling a boat and the bearings going out on that. It ain't pretty.

I think I remember the service advisor saying the tech said they would probably go out in the next 10k miles. Now I'm paranoid to drive it anywhere other than the local grocery store 10 miles away.

Service advisory will attempt to get approval from Mopar for the repair and then order the parts. This process is probably a 2-3 week wait.

Question - anyone have feedback on just how delicate the bearings are after they start making the humming noise? Am I being too cautious limiting my driving. I'm certainly not going on an out of area trip, but would like to be able to drive about the neighborhood.

I changed the front wheel bearing/hubs on my 4th gen truck. They started making noise at around 150k miles or so. Drove around on it for while before replacing it. Maybe another 10k miles or a little more. Then changed one out myself and but then kept driving it looking for time to do the other one. I ended up taking the truck and the other hub to the dealer and they replaced the other side for me. My opinion on it, if it's just making some noise and you are not noticing anything in the driving characteristics of the truck, you should be ok for now. When it happened to me, I just kept driving it like normal until I had time to get it fixed.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured I was a bit too conservative with it. Can't feel anything through the steering wheel or other symptoms.

When you start feeling and hearing a rumble they are pretty much done. I would not go cross country, but local, you should be OK. YMMV.
