Heated Steering Wheel Cracks/Wrinkles

On my new to me 2021 1500 Bighorn, the heated steering wheel has begun to develop small symmetrical cracks or wrinkles at the 7 o'clock position on the wheel. This just started this week and I've been using the heating option almost daily. I'm out of warranty at 60K so trying to figure out options to stop this from getting worse.

This photo is from a thread on another forum of a member who was still under warranty and got his wheel replaced, but it is the exact same marks.

I'm not death gripping the wheel and haven't cleaned the wheel with more than a wet rag or used sanitizer on it which rules out some ideas other people had that may cause it. Thoughts? Thanks all.

That definitely looks like something was dragged across the steering wheel possible wedding ring when making a turn, or if you grab onto the steering wheel when getting in/out of the truck.

Be careful with hand sanitizer and your steering wheel. Excessive exposure of the hand sanitizer will destroy the wheel material and make it prone to breakage and damage. We ran into this sort of problem with a lot of my work trucks during the scamdemic when everyone used hand sanitizer for friggan everything .

It's likely caused by you or the previous owner and is not a defect in the steering wheel cover. I caused nearly identical marks on a steering wheel once. It happened when the pocket clip on my pocket knife dragged across the steering wheel in the 7 o'clock position when I was getting in or out of the vehicle. My solution was to move the knife from my right front pocket to my left front pocket LOL.
