It has been a week since installing the LED RAM letters and finally had time to write an honest opinion. A definite fact, they are a head turner! In the 4 months I have had this truck, I haven’t gotten as many compliments as I did in this past week. One night I was driving behind a police car; he changed lanes and slowed down to let me pass, I thought he was going to pull me over for some unknown reason. He drove behind me for a mile and then pulled up next to me at a red light. I kept looking forward pretending that i didn’t know he was there; he sounded his air-horn and when I looked he gave me a thumbs-up.
Now to the nitty gritty. When I first received them I was upset at the color. They have been out of stock for a long time so when I received an email that they had a limited supply available, so I jumped on it. At the time of ordering, the only color options where White, Bed Liner and Dusk Black; no photos showing each on the website. As my grill has a gloss finish, I knew bed-liner was out and assumed dusk-back was the right option. As you can see from the attached picture, I was wrong. After calming down, I realized that the finish matched the intakes and hump on the sports hook so decided to keep them. Now looking at the website, I see a Brilliant Black Crystal option which sounds like that would probably match the original letters. The company really should have photos on their site or at least state that the Brilliant Back was out of stock instead removing it, this way people know that it was an option.
The quality of the product is excellent; they feel solid and sturdy. Time will tell how they stand up. One issue I found, and in no way would I consider this a flaw, my grill is slightly curved so the letters do not sit completely flush. Only on the outside corners of the R and M, there is a slight gap. Also because of this, the thin 3M mounting tape that was provided was not suitable for the job. When ever I find time, I plan on taping off the letters and grill and then filling the gaps with black caulk or silicone to smooth things out.
