I'm extremely impressed with the gas mileage I'm getting. Getting 23.4 mpg on a 65 mile trip on highways staying between 55-60 mph. I've got 5.7 hemi with etorque and 3.92 gears. That's better than the EPA says, plus with 3.92 gears, I was expecting to get 1.5 - 2 mpg less than what the EPA says. EPA says 17/22 but that's with the 3.21 gears. I glad I got the etorque. It's hard to find in a Bighorn trim level. Dealer only had 3 in stock. How's everyone else doing on gas mileage?

Lots of threads on this. I've got an ET too (w/ 3.21), and MPG is one of the only disappointments with my truck. I see about 18-19 hwy and 15 average. But really MPG isn't why I bought a truck. I've only got about 1300 miles on it and I hear it gets better with more.

Bighorn HEMI eTorque here. Mine is even better, getting 24+ (hand calculated) at 55-60, but it has 3.21 gears. I usually travel at 65-70, which gets me anywhere between 22.5 -23.8
Mpg drops dramatically with speed in these trucks, mostly due to the aerodynamic drag. I once did a 225 mile one way trip with constant wind straight in my back, ended up at 25.8mpg , doing 70-75 mph all the time :)
I'm very happy with my truck, too.

Man, I wish I could get that kind of mileage...I'm slowly getting back to 15 with the weather warming up, of course my commute to work which is mostly 45 I don't think I go more than 2 miles without hitting a stop light....that's the big killer right there.
Absolute best I've ever got was 18.7.
On another highway trip we took best tank was 17.5, granted we were hauling butt(5-9 over) trying to make it 700 miles with a 6 month old in one day. Also lots of idling at rest areas when we stopped to feed/change baby and eat etc.

Regardless, didn't buy it for the mileage. Bought it to have a truck for space and towing, some day.

It's your speed that is key. 55-60 is a sweet spot for RPM/mileage. These guys complaining about mileage are probably the same people that are running 85 - 90 MPH on the highway.

Exactly. "Why is it so much worse than the sticker?" Here's why - an example chart from EPA highway mpg rating test. Average speed 48-ish, never even went over 60.

If I did this exact test with my truck, I'd easily get 24.5+ mpg

Yeah, 55-60 MPH will greatly improve mileage. I can totally see my truck getting that at those speeds.
At 65-70 MHP, mine drops to about 19-20 MPG.

With 3.92's the gas mileage drops almost exponentially past 70 mph. I can't remember the exact rpm at 75-80 mph but its over 2000 which burns up fuel real quick

I only have 600 miles on my truck, but the lift and tires dont help at all. I'm averaging around 12mpg but if I want good mpg I drive my 60mpg hybrid

on the highway at 75-78 cruise I get up to 21.5 sometimes..usually around 20. pulling my 28'x 6000# travel trailer at 68-70 I get 8.5-11 depending on the terrain.

Made a trip from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale for an appointment, then eventually on to Miami to pick up some small furniture, then back to Orlando. Reset the lie-o-meter average mpg at the beginning of the trip. Set active cruise to 73 but traffic limited speed to 71 most of the way down.

When I arrived for my appointment lie-o-meter said 23.7. Then a lot of idling waiting in the parking lot and a trip through a drive through for lunch, eating in the car while parked, engine running. Down to Miami, made my furniture pickup then back to Orlando.
When I got home lie-o-meter says 22.7 for the trip overall, including all the idling and in-town driving.

I set the trip meter for the ride from Miami to Orlando and that said 23.0 when I got home.

I know it’s just the lie-o-meter and not hand calc’d but you won’t hear me complain.

Just back from a trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway testing out my new Hellwig sway bar.

Best mileage I have gotten out of the truck since I have owned it.
