Why does the warranty go back three years for something that was covered under factory warranty? Why do I have to pay for three years that have already passed? The reason I've never payed for a extended warranty when I bought a new vehicle, is because I believe it's redundant to pay for something your already getting free from the factory for three years and what ever mileage.

That’s an odd point of view. It’s called an extended warranty for a reason - it extends the original warranty. Now if was called a “new warranty from scratch”, you might have a point.

They offer those plans too if you look.
They are obviously more expensive.
The plans are cheaper to buy the earlier you are into your warranty to offset the difference inn cost.

It's not a scam if you read the contract terms. You admitted in your prior post you don't understand the warranty so that pretty much explains your position.

6/85K is the entirety of the contract from the original purchase date and mileage. If you needed something longer, then cancel the contract and buy the right one. You may be able to extend it, that's one thing I'm not versed on.

I bought an 8/60K for my truck as that was the longest I could go and I don't expect to exceed 60K in 8 years. Pretty simple.

They're not charging you for the original warranty period. Maybe that's the part you don't get. In essence, you're paying for the "extension," hence the term "extended warranty."

So I am 2 weeks away from hitting 3 years on my 2021 1500 Laramie. Getting letters from Mopar about extended warranty. My truck has never been to the dealership for any thing. No water leaks so far. I change my own oil every 5K miles. Use Mopar filters and approved Pennzoil.

Curious for the members opinions on the value of extending the warranty. I am at 20100 miles, so I am a low mileage retired owner. Looking a Maximum Care, 60K miles, 7 years for $1205.00.

I have mostly been of the opinion that any real problems should shake out in the first three years. Any real expenses would probably happen after this warranty expires. But if the exhaust manifolds or lifters go in the next four years I easily break even. Hoe likely am I to get rejected by the dealer for changing my own oil and not having dealer receipts for oil changes.

Any and all opinions appreciated.

Used plans do have some requirements--- 2014 or newer, under 80,000 miles and once the factory warranty (3yr/36k) runs out (and inspection is needed as well).
