Looking at filter costs, big price difference between oem and aftermarket. Anyone using the aftermarket filter in their eco diesel gen 3?

Did you check dieselfiltersonline.com ?
As above dieselfiltersonline for oem. I have been using OEM from there, but using an EcoGuard this go around. I just made sure when I bought the EcoGuard (Amazon) that is direct from EcoGuard and not a third party or Amazon itself.

According to idparts, which is the site I use for my TDI's and my Eco, the oem filter has a built in oil bypass and comes complete with the cap. I would be hesitant to run a aftermarket if it doesn't have the bypass as well

Check Doc's Diesel as well. I've had a good experience with their filters so far.
