Gas mileage

I just bought a new 2025 ram 1500 with the hurricane engine. I have 400 mile and I’m only getting 16 mpg highway on level ground 8th gear Cruze set at 71. I’m wondering if there is some kind of a computer controlled brake in period that would cause lower gas mileage?

I don't really get too bothered with the low gas mileage of full size trucks. Just nature of the beast. Your question did tap into my curiosity, so I did a little reading. If this article is correct, the gas mileage is about right in your ride. I've mainly been around town for the first 1000 miles, and I'm barely over 14 mpg. It didn't do much better on the highway and interstate.

Did some driving around and made some observations on gas mileage for my '25 Rebel. Primarily flat landscape. Best mileage was clean air and cruise engaged. Any fluctuations caused inconsistencies.

50 mph => 30+ mpg
55-60 mph => 25 mpg
75 mph => 22 mpg
78 mph => 16 mpg

Very significant drop from 75 to 78. Seems to be some sweet spots for good mileage. This was just observing the gauges. Not a scientific measure.

55-60 mph => 25 mpg
75 mph => 22 mpg
78 mph => 16 mpg

Try 82+ if you can. When I do my long drives to see my daughter everyone is usually speeding going around 80-90. I followed around once going about 82 average and was able to get 20-21 mpg for most of it.

Looks like your sweet spot is about 55 to 60 if your goal MPG.
