Hi,
I have a new 2022 Ram 1500 Limited. Not one, but all four doors have horrible varying gaps. It just gets worse from there. The hood is way off, and the front bumper is lower on right side, and over to the right by 1/4 inch. The gaps on this truck range between 2mm to 8mm in some places. Passenger doors don't even line up with each other. Tail gate is out on the bottom and in on top. Took it to two dealers, and both body shops they sent me to said it had too many conflicting gap issues to be fixed. I do have a case open with FCA. They have been dragging this out for 8 months saying one thing after another then changing back to a different awnser. They originily said they would replace it, then changed to a a$7,000 trade in credit. The local dealer says they don't even want it since it's so bad they would have to wholesale it. They did call and tell FCA case Mgr. this while I listened to call. Still no help from FCA. If anyone else is having these isssues and has an idea, or resolution would appreciate any help.
Thank you20220928_161809.jpg20220928_161902.jpg20220928_161906.jpg20220928_161913.jpg

Did you not notice this when you bought the truck? That rear door doesn’t even look like it’s closed.
No, it was late and had a lot going on. Did bring it back the next day. Two dealers have tried to help with FCA., but they could care less.

That isn't great, but those alignments can be fixed (or made a lot better) by people who know what they are doing. An experienced body shop can line those up, but that's out of pocket for something that should have been done at the factory level.

Factor in a dealership network that isn't known for greatness at the moment, and I can feel your pain.

I would normally recommend the dealership with the best attached body shop in your area, but it looks like you did that. It maybe worth the money to have a good 3rd party body shop do the alignment for you instead for trying to work this out with a RAM dealer.

You are so right about their dealership network. Corporate FCA is even worse. I did take it to a third indipendent body shop last week. Paid to have the whole truck measured with the latest equipment. They found even more wrong and are willing to try to fix it, but have concerns due to how far out things are, combined with some factory repairs on the hood that appear to have been done at factory or dealer prior to sale. One door is acually twited. Having a hard time paying for them to try to fix a new $68,000 truck that's the worst they have ever seen. Even the dealer states they never seen one with so many issues.

Gotcha, at that level, I would go try to Lemon it. Have the dealer try to keep fixing it, sounds like they won't be able to, and get a new clean truck.

I don't own a Ram anymore, but they definitely do leave a lot to be desired as far as warranty work. I had them fix my MFT tailgate as it was rubbing up on each other due to a bad alignment. I was told to not put touch up paint on by the dealer as they will want to submit a claim to FCA to get it professionally painted again. Never got approved by FCA.

Thanks for all the input. I would love to have the dealer try to fix it, but both have said they won't even try due to too many conflicting gap issues. Both put it in writing which was forwarded to FCA. They are a horrible company to deal with. Just keep transfering the case to a new person to start all over. I did just start a Lemon Law case. What complicates it is they even won't try to repair it. Lemon Law normally states they have to attempt to repair it three times without being able to. Been a fan since my 1969 Roadrunner bought in 72. Never again will I buy a Chrysler product no matter how this plays out.

Do you have any idea what really might have happened to this truck. I would guess that it would almost be impossible for a truck to be made this badly let alone have the factory ship it like that. It would seem like more is going on here.

I realize it's too late for you now, but always try to take someone with you when taking delivery on a new vehicle, to help look for issues like this. I know I get too caught up in the new car/truck excitement, and have missed things like this in the past. It doesn't even have to be someone who knows much about cars, just someone who is observant and can see issues like panel gaps, paint nibs and orange peel, and other irregularities with the overall appearance of things.

I agree. I do wish I knew why it was shipped with all these problems. One of the first comments by the first case Mgr. Was that she could not believe it left the factory that way. After that, it has been one stall tactic after another. The last dealer here in town tried to help me resolve this with FCA. They told them they had never seen one like this, and it looked like it was put together with super glue. That had no effect on their position of doing nothing. Now as of this morning they want to send an engineer out in February to see what happened when it was built. I really don't care what happened at this point. Everyone says they know it's messed up, but no one wants to take responsibility.

Put it on your social media if you have it, tag their marketing department into it. Sucks you have to deal with this man.

Mike,
You are right on track. Normally I would not have missed even one of these issues having been in and around the car business all my life. While I should not have, I bought this while dealing with the loss of my wife, and I wasn't really paying attention the night I took delivery. That part of this is my fault, but still does not absolve Ram for the absolute poor quality of the build on this truck.

Thanks Rebel, I'm not too social media savvy but that is a good Idea. I'll see if my younger friends can help with that.

My condolences on the loss of your wife. I can't imagine what you have and are going through.

You're absolutely right. There is no excuse for the poor build quality of your truck. I hope you're able to get this resolved to your satisfaction.

My condolences as well, keep us posted on this goes, many of us really want to make sure this is resolved to your satisfaction.

I know there was a member here who got a new truck after a regional manager caught wind of his issue (brand new truck with major issue) let see if we can find that thread and get you in contact with that member, he may have that regional managers contact info and can help you out, either himself or a regional manager in your area. Prior to that, neither the dealership or Mopar was really helping him out.

Thank you again Rebel. Any help is welcomed. Saw the S.D. Was Raised in Chula Vista
