Because our US farmers are converting corn to eat into ethanol for our cars.

.
You know that we don't eat the corn grown for ethanol production. It is different corn, with different harvesting and processing methods.

Cows can convert it to delicious food source for us though!

……but there again all the farmers have to do is plant people food corn and then we wouldn‘t have to be eating corn from Thailand.

Cars can covert it to exhaust out of the tailpipe for us though.

Did you note the warning on the label?

We don’t have a can of corn in our pantry so I can’t tell if Libby’s, Del Monte, etc is also using over seas corn and / or they have a warning label saying eating canned corn is a hazard to my heath?

I was 13 years old when we had the first OPEC embargo and I still remember the long gas lines, the odd / even days when you could pump gas.

I never liked this idea from day one taking the food we eat and blowing it out the tailpipe.

How much does the US taxpayer fork over every year to keep this boondoggle running?

I understand it takes one gallon of diesel to make one gallon of ethanol out of corn.

But in Brazil they are using sugar cane which produces more ethanol.

So in Brazil for everyone gallon of diesel they are getting two gallons of ethanol, yes?

There is a lot more to harvesting, storing and transporting fresh sweet corn instead of dried field corn. It's not that easy to change. Not just a seed in the dirt.

It's an open market. Capitalism. If it were more profitable to grow it here than grow it somewhere else, process it and ship it across the ocean they would choose to do so. Nothing stops them except the will of God and a poor economy.

The hazard warning is probably for the California people. It causes cancer there...🤣

Because we have lame laws about not allowing children to work in the fields. Medical insurance, 8 hour days, workers comp, stupid stuff like that.
Those kids can get their bowl of rice when the quota is met. Otherwise.... No rice for you!

Hunger and a riding crop are great motivators. Just think, they are learning a trade. Not like lazy American kids. 🤣

I was working when I was 10. I wasn't old enough to get my own paper route, so I hassled another kid to give me a piece of his. Got my own route at 12 or 13, been working since. One of my kids wanted to earn some money and I started giving him ideas. My wife was saying YOU CAN'T DO THAT ANYMORE, it's not the 80's... Damn!

I try to stop whenever I see a kid with a lemonade stand. Well at least when I am with my wife so no one calls the cops on me! 😆 I think it is great to promote capitalism.
