How important is the plastic clip on the Fumoto valve?

How important is the plastic clip on the Fumoto valve?

You'll lose every bit of oil if you don't use it.

Pretty sure it's just an extra piece of security to keep everything closed up. If I lost/broke mine I wouldn't worry much about it and I'm not sure if I would buy a replacement piece.

It solves a problem that doesn't exist basically. Warm and fuzzy to sleep at night.

I have been using them for over 15 years and just me...you don't need the plastic clip!
